Cabinet Hardware Dilemma
Comments (6)You have a few choices: 1) fill the holes and then you can pick whatever hardware you like with no restrictions. 2) Use pulls and/or knobs with a backplate. Search on myknobs.com for "backplate" and you'll see some examples. 3) Use the cup pulls that you like on the drawers and then a coordinating knob with a backplate on the doors. Something like this one: http://www.myknobs.com/libp28198stbc.html 4) Use the cup pulls that you like on the drawers and fill 1/2 the holes on the doors and use the other hole for a knob....See MoreHelp with choosing kitchen cabinet hardware size! Comments (27)@backstroae Ours are Berenson Hearthstone. I just went and measured and the larger pulls do stick out a bit more than the smaller ones, but not by a lot. On our one 30" drawer we used a 160mm pull as the 12" looked too big. But seriously... if you can buy one of each pull size and hold them up to each drawer, do so... we would have not bought the right sizes if we had just guessed. Also, to anyone who reads this who may be considering Berenson brushed nickel hardware. It is fantastic and shows no smudges no matter how greasy my hands are... they look perfect still. We used cheaper pulls in the bathrooms and those show every fingerprint (as does Kohler's BN hardware so I guess it sort of matches)....See MoreIs there a "rule" for sizing of cabinet pulls/kitchen hardware?
Comments (4)No rule; it's really a matter of personal preference. I recommend taping out various handle sizes on the cabinets if they're in and seeing what tickles your fancy. If they're not in yet, I taped up cabinets on my wall to try out different options. After that exercise, I ended up doing all knobs for the same reason as Mark....See MoreKitchen Cabinet Makeover/Design Dilemma! Please help
Comments (41)well, you could always remove the chair rail. but yes, if you paint the walls, you'll have to pick the same color to carry out through those adjoining halls I think Pale Oak, , Smoke Embers, Nimbus, or Light pewter would all be lovely in your space. I'd also hang a nice piece of art here to tie in the pale aqua chairs, maybe to some pillows on the sofa w/those colors. the fireplace/mantle is way too traditional looking. I'd remove everything. if you want more Boho, try some zellige tile on the surround I love this selection^ or a cement tile with natural wood mantle or, do more of a modern surround w/a marble tile at the very least, do a diff surround w/out the fluting...See MoreWalnutCreek Zone 7b/8a
