Kitchen/Dining Design Dilemma PLEASE HELP!
Comments (6)the partition wall is using up space as you have two "passages" created...not necessarily needed....Take out partition wall..make dining zone in that area.....eliminate peninsula in kitchen....go for L shape kitchen on the window and pantry wall and give a destination island where dining table sits now. More needs to be known about your space, and adjacent spaces....See MorePlease, please help me with my kitchen cabinets alignment dilemma!!
Comments (25)butterflyjlv : thanks for the thank you. Here is another possible option for microwave cabinet on right of window side. above walls: 30 wide (42" high) below bases: 15 drawer then 2 ( 30 w bases) If this is the only cabinets in the kitchen, I highly suggest going to 42" tall with no crown to get an extra storage : 1 extra shelf per cabinet. Also under lighting really is functional as well. Here is a photo example how 42" white shaker look with no crown. I agree with yvonnecmartin (cookie sheet somewhere is useful) Don't forget fillers on adjacent side walls, they're functional, too. Hope that helps :)...See MoreKitchen remodel design dilemma - Please help before we move ahead!
Comments (16)That kitchen makes no sense at all. You have only 3 mimsy little sections of countertop to work on (besides the island). But the island is clearly designed primarily for eating. Think of this: When you're baking or prepping a turkey, where do you put the big stuff as you work? You have no counter section big enough to hold the turkey pan and the bowl of stuffing as you fill the bird, no counter section big enough for a cookie sheet and a stand mixer. And don't suggest doing the raw turkey on the island, because there is no sink there for it and the island is for eating; you don't want raw turkey goop on the island. You have no continuous countertop flow between the sink and the stove (because of the oven), so every drippy thing has to be carried across the floor because there's an oven in the way. Slip hazard. And with the freezer, pantry, and wine/coffee bar 25 feet away, it gives the sense that the whole 625 sq. ft. space is kitchen. There's no place to put a dining table that allows it to have its own space. It will always look like a kitchen table, caught in the cross traffic between two 6-foot doorways. Do-over....See MoreDesign dilemma with a dark dining room makeover
Comments (10)Hi, Sue-- This is such a cool space with a distinct point of view. Really like what you're doing here. Just a quick follow-up question: what's happening at the far end of the sideboard? Could you share an image of that whole wall? Think you've got the buffet area dialed in with art scale and styling, but would maybe think about grouping your art on that other wall differently - it's a little hard to tell what the focus is there. I'd also think about pulling your two small art pieces flanking the china cabinet and featuring them on that larger wall as an option, too. They get a little lost squeezed in tight on that current wall. Agree that a chandelier in here (bubble glass / sputnik) will help throw light around and create additional focus over the table. I wouldn't add an area rug over carpet in here, though, since it undercuts the mod vibe you've got going. You have such beautiful blond corner panelling - have you considered a low-light friendly plant in two corners to feature the verticality and add a touch of green to the space? Sansevieria (snake plant) is very tolerant of low light and fits a modern, streamlined feel....See MoreRelated Professionals
