Comments (9)I had a similar situation in my kitchen with a dark golden brown countertop and a Silgranit sink. I went with the Cafe Brown color even though nothing else in my kitchen was brown and the trim was all white because the sink blended with the counters better. I love it. I think you'd be really happy with the black for that reason. Also, my dark sink really does hide stains, discoloration, etc. I almost fear ever returning to a white sink!...See MoreNeed help. When did you have to choose cab. hardware?
Comments (10)I called a friend last night who had used this cabinet guy before. Her cabinets were done before she even started looking for knobs, then he came back and installed them. I think what he's telling me is that he needs to temporarily attach the drawer front to the box by drilling a hole where the hardware screw would go, so that he can trim any fronts, if necessary. That's why he wants to know whether I'm using knobs or pulls (1 hole or 2) and, if 2, the space between the screws. Then there's the distinct possibility that because he has a huge job starting the day after he finishes mine, he wants to drill all the holes, then send a worker back to just screw in the hardware. I don't like him pushing for an instant answer on something as expensive as hardware so this morning I'm going to push back. For those of you with custom cabinets, did your fronts have to be trimmed/adjusted on site? When were the knob/pull holes drilled?...See MoreNeed advice on choosing type of kitchen cabinet hardware
Comments (1)It's really a personal, aesthetic choice. Check out photos on Houzz & you'll see huge variation, and you can gauge which ones look good to you. A more modern look tends to be very long pulls - often on both drawers and all upper cabinets as well. A "rule of thumb" I've seen for drawers is making a pull 1/3 the size of the cabinet - but there's a lot of variation there, too. Really, it seems that are are no rules - there's only what you like. If you're planning on "aging in place", consensus seems to be that pulls are easier than knobs for arthritic hands. Again, look at photos, maybe do a search using keywords that reflect your kitchen/aesthetics: "traditional, cherry, black" PS: click on the above green "search" & scroll down to the photos...See Morecan’t decide on kitchen cabinet color and hardware
Comments (4)It's a little unusual that you're looking at cabinets with pulls already installed as if these are your three choices. Most folks choose a cabinet door style they like, and pulls are a choice made "down the road." Often, after installation. Are you in the U.S.? Cabinets are a big investment. I would like to give you some unsolicited advice. Please ignore if it isn't helpful to you. Choose cabinets with full overlay doors/drawers, no matter which way your style leans. You see the cabinets you are choosing have a significant amount of face-frame showing in between the drawers/doors. That's a look and craftsmanship from tract homes around me, from decades ago...not current. Glaze on cabinets is not a trend right now. Choose what you want, but at least be aware of trends. Trend is toward simpler styling, easier to wipe down, in lieu of that fussy look. Drawers on bottom: trust me on this, you want ALL drawers on the lower cabinets. Pulls/Hardware: Like the jewelry of the kitchen. Those are NOT your 3 choices. There are thousands of choices. Decide the "look" you want for your space, how the pull will feel in your hands, the size of the pull, and the finish....See MoreSandy
