What Does Your Kitchen Table and Chairs Look Like?
Comments (29)Hand-me-downs ... remainders from Uncle's time in the house. Formica top on squarish table, with chrome legs that can be pulled out when one or other of the drop-leaves are lifted. Three wooden stained chairs with spindles holding up the arced top bars, seats slightly shaped, separate maroon pads for comfort. Kitchen is small - table against living room wall, with just doorway between table and counter, including stainless double sink/cupboards: with a bit of a stretch, while seated at he table, I can reach a spoon sitting on the edge of the counter by the sink. On the other side, the stove sits next to the living room wall, facing the table, with barely enough room to open the oven to put things in and out: I can reach things on the front burners of the stove. The fridge sits beside the stove, with door opening away from the stove and I can reach some things in the fridge while seated at the table, with a bit of a stretch. The door leading to the back stair is in a boxed-in corner by the wall at my back, with the wall leading out to it about 6 inches from the fridge, and the box holding it sticks out about a foot into the kitchen almost a foot beyond the front of the fridge: I can reach it from the table, as well. Two doors, two windows. It wouldn't be a good idea to try to have a boxing match in my kitchen! ole joyful...See MoreLooking for dining chair suggestions
Comments (3)Do you own this table? The legs just look out of scale to the table top. But if you own it, then you can find loads of chairs that would work with it. Arhaus has a great selection of fairly good chairs for reasonable pricing in many styles and looks. I would look there. Wait for their sales because I find them a bit on the pricey side. If you want lower priced chairs, World Market and Pier 1 are worth checking out. I wouldn't do the Mid-century chairs at this table. Not quite right style-wise and the spread legs take up more room and become tripping challenge, so watch out for that. Beautiful walnut table top and do what Beth said about treating the top if it isn't sealed with a non-gloss product?...See MoreHelp! Chair suggestions for Heirloom Dining table.
Comments (13)What a wonderful history that table has. Lucky you to be able to be seated at love each day. Based on the wood tone and details of the table,, your kitchen and the orange in your oak floor I would keep the chairs simple. These are from Pottery Barn. I like that they come in Charcoal. I think they come close to your parameters Overall: 17" wide x 20.5" deep x 36" high Backrest Height: 18" Distance Between Legs: 16.5" (side to side); 14" (front to back) Have you considered a rug for under the table to break up the wood?...See MoreLooking for Suggestions on Flooring & Paint - Kitchen & Family Room
