I happen to love simple ranch homes adding stone to a brick house is a bad idea I like the new front door and garage doors planned and IMO unless you are planning on a whole new facade I do not think porticos work on these homes. You could look a bit more MCM style garage door s and front door and of course the landscaping IMO that is what would enhance the look.

Yes, the bench looks awkward. Flip it with the hall table and then use the 5 pillows you have now. Put the stripe lumbar right in the middle; 5 is a good number. Once the table is between the two floor lamps, put chairs a foot or so in front of it, but have the chairs facing out to the hall. Keep the floors lamps there. Put the leather sofa in the bay with the black coffee table in front of it. Buy a long black and white lumbar pillow for the sofa, a rug, a floor lamp and add your plant into the vignette. A floor lamp like this one will provide both reading light and ambient lighting when watching TV. I think your current chairs will fit where I placed these chairs.
