Please help me pick a sofa table for my bedroom
Comments (19)Hello Everyone! Thank you so much for all of your suggestions!! Les917 - I wondered if anyone would mention that space between the pictures! Actually I'll be mounting 3 sea stars in that space, I'm just waiting for them to arrive. teacats - I love the idea of a mirror over the dresser. It definately needs something. We've only been in our home since Sept. so we've just started to mount pictures and decorate the walls. I love the idea of the tall thin black lamps to frame the mirror. I'm not sure yet where I want the photo that is currently over the dresser. It's not mounted because I haven't felt like it belongs there. I'm not sure about putting anything above the bed. The bed is so imposing that I have been afraid that adding anything more above it, would just magnify that. Because the headboard is so high, it just seems to me that adding something above it would be overkill. The ceiling in that alcove was done that way by the builder. It is textured just like the room ceiling is, so I am thinking that it was designed to be ceiling. The plan had an overhead ceiling light in that space that we did not choose to go with. If I leave the photos as they are, add the mirror and black lamps to the dresser, and decide to go with 2 matching nightstands...what color should I go with? Black, white? Thanks!...See MoreNightstand suggestions (shapes, styles, materials) for this bed?
Comments (13)Wow, you guys ROCK! I expected/hoped for "go with metal, not wood" but I got awesome selections :) Pal- I love the hospital-esque cabinets, they would be dog proof and both DH and I used to work in hospitals eons ago. So these would be a nod to that. Yayagal & Cyn427 - from CB2 I like Proof, too. I wish it came in black or charcoal, the dulled stainless is pretty but might be too bright. The Harvey cube in charcoal could work and it's really inexpensive. That would leave adequate cash to get some king of storage box for the bottom shelf Fun2BHere - the MCM teak tables are gorgeous but still a little blocky - and at $1500 i would have to love them unconditionally ;). The cubes were amazing, the teak on those just glowed. Wow. They were a steal, too, at $680 for the pair. The metal cabs you linked were ... In a word ... Perfect! I loved that they would add some color to the space and loved the proportions (a little tall, but I could maybe make it work). The only issue I have with them is the price, for $1500 I would have expected the seller to clean up some of that oxidation. But you know what? I would spend that on something I loved and thought was worth it (these would be, if they were cleaned up). I think that's the upper limit, though. Psychologically I have a hard time spending more on the nightstands that the bed (even though there is more work involved to make a nightstand, I bet). I think I'm going to start scouring Craigslist for metal typing tables, though. After seeing the one Fun2BHere linked to, I noticed some have different brackets on the bottom that could support a wooden shelf (I can make a shelf, right?). At least for my side of the bed ... I like the industrial + feminine legs + nod back to when women were secretaries or nurses. It makes me chuckle (an ironic, "you have no idea how much progress didn't happen because of your narrow minded ways, you idjits" kind of chuckle). Thanks again, you guys are awesome!...See MoreFluff post: what color or colors is your bedspread or bedspreads?
Comments (56)This one I made for the bed using a combination of sheets, satin ribbon and some very pretty but somewhat expensive printed quilting fabric. The ribbon conceals the raw edges so I could make the most of the patterned material - the shams and horizontal rows for a queen size took nearly the full yard and then I made a decorative throw pillow with pleating to hide that the print material used was the scraps, raw edges also concealed with ribbon. Leftover ribbon as the ties (not shown) at one end and internally keep the duvet inside from moving around/sliding out and bunching. Our sheets are blue solid, teal solid, and gray solid - all 400tc and under $45 a set at target. I have a white and gray comforter left over from when we staged our previous home also, however...the dog sleeps with us and I could have told the stager the futility in buying any soft home decor/furnishing that is mostly white when one has a dog. Even with washing. I have tennis balls that go in the dryer with it to keep the poly fill from being lumpy. Eventually it will become the dog’s comforter. The kids room has two bunk beds (for up to 4 kids) and solid blue comforters, sheets are blue solid, blue stripe, and blue dots (I bought a variety of patterns in a dozen sets since sheets and kids both have to get washed really often and sometimes you have to throw out a set of sheets.)...See MoreWhat nightstand and dresser would go with this bed ?
Comments (76)@Molly - yes I have enough space in the room to fit the Westcliffe nightstand next to the bed. But it just makes me think is it worth spending 1600 on 2 nightstands !!!...See Morenjmomma
