Remodeling kitchen. Having hard time choosing granite.
Comments (17)I agree with others that this choice is whether you want a wow, look-at-me granite, or a serene calming look. Both slabs are beautiful. I also would think about which parts will go on the island vs. the perimeter. With the granite in the second photo, you will have to do a careful template layout. IMHO, at least one of those big white sections should be front-and-center. With the slab with the more unified pattern, it will be easier to layout the island and perimeter. Regardless, do not skip the template layout with your fabricator - be there. As a side note, a friend of mine has Alaska White, and her granite is somewhere in-between your first photo and second photo. Her backsplash is Daltile Rittenhouse white subway tiles. It looks great with this granite, and doesn't compete with it, and is not too expensive either....See MoreSo, I'm having a hard time finding this tile. Any good matches to it?
Comments (6)If you are not changing the cabinet layout, I’m not sure why you need more tile? But, consider combining a complimentary tile with the existing tile to create a subtle “rug” type pattern in the room. A light to medium gray around the island, and as a border to the room could work. You’ll need a very good tile guy to pull that off well. Deco strips that combine multiple colors can sometimes be the key to making that work. Without a floor plan and pictures of the issue, it’s difficult to give more targeted advice. But, if you’re not working with a Kitchen Designer, I’d strongly suggest that you do so. Good luck!...See MoreNeed color advicd
Comments (4)I like the idea of an off white cream color for the side. It's what I keep coming back to, but its hard to picture. I keep wondering if it would be too stark, but I think I'm just used to seeing that ugly tan. I hesitate to remove the fake shutters only because I see other homes in the area that have and they look super drab and monochromatic. However, with cream and dark trim, I think that could solve that issue. Thank you both!...See MoreHaving a hard time finding an off white paint color
Comments (14)A few years ago, my husband and I painted the entire inside of our home with Behr off white Ultra Stain Blocking Paint and Primer in One. It was quite a labor of love. I purchased the paint from Home Depot, even got a 10% military discount (I am a retired US Air Force Captain). Prior to painting, we repaired all cracks and nail pops, washed and rinsed all walls, ceilings, doors and moldings. The paint went on smoothly, no issues, great coverage. I like Behr much better than SW or BM. We used matte for walls and ceilings, and satin for moldings and doors. Everyone who sees our home always compliments us on the wall color! It looks great all times of the day too. Best of luck in your journey....See Morehavingfun
