I'm having a hard time picking cabinet colors
Comments (4)I'm also nervous about the fact that the pantry wall and island would be the same color and the rest of the kitchen would be white. Usually, just the island is a different color. Anyone have opinions on this?...See MoreTrying to choose a countertop for kitchen remodel
Comments (2)You say you want readily available, but I live near a HUGE area with tons of granite yards and I've never heard of either of the ones you mentioned! You say you cannot find one you both love. Is this based on you guys walking through stone yards together seeing stone in person or is it based on pics on the internet? You will find lots on the net that is hard to come by in person. Also, do you guys have a shared vision for the space? If not, you need to be on the same page. If he is picturing a darker, "manly" space with dark woods, dark counters, metal and you are picturing light and airy and white and bright, you will NEVER agree on anything. Do you want the backsplash to really stand out, the counters, the cabinets? What about the stones that you like do you like about them? You say you don't like "crazy amounts of movement" but then you mention Danby Marble, which has TONS of horizontal movement. If you cabinets are cream, counters are light, then what will your backsplash be? To me, it would be rather monochromatic to have all light, "stale" surfaces. Would you want the grey, green and blues in the backsplash? What about a beautiful glass mosaic b/s and a solid color granite/Ceasarstone counter? The sea and green/grey/blues matches perfectly with slabs of Fusion quartzite I am hopefully getting, but it is on the high end price wise. Super white may be of interest to you....See MoreI have a hard time injecting color, have alot of gray, need advicd
Comments (15)Why do you feel the need to inject color? There is nothing wrong with neutrals, it looks classic and sophisticated. And I would never suggest adding random colors just for the sake of adding color. Only bring in what makes sense. I have a neutral house, it's not monochromatic, but it's neutrals, and the "colors" that i choose to go in it are on the expanded list of "neutrals". Example: I consider animal prints a neutral. Colors I consider neutral: dark olive green, espresso brown, black, gold, creams, grays, My house does not have any of what people call "pops of color" which I'm totally against, that concept makes no sense to me. But my house is far from boring or lacking in "color". It sounds like all you need to do is get out of all grays. That is boring and will not look good....See MoreHaving a hard time deciding what to do with the front of my house.
Comments (45)Not totally done but close! Planted the low-gro and added cypress mulch. I tried to get the corners at a 90° angle as best as I could. The grass in front of the steps might be temporary as the thinking wheel is turning. I like the idea of extending the porch out in that area. The covered gutters are only a concern in the corner above the main entrance. There’s a rain diverter there but it isn’t very good. I hope to remedy that when I replace my shingles next spring....See MoreM Miller
