really need some advice on flooring for home we're buying! pics!
Comments (15)Thanks for all the replies and suggestions, all are appreciated!!!! I guess I'll have to find some flooring I like and hopefully, be able to get some samples, take them to the house and put them down in different areas of the house and see how they look, esp. against the base of the fireplace. I don't mind the parquet and it may look better once it's cleaned or refinished, but do I think it really looks good, not really. While I think it's okay in the entry, I just don't like how it looks in the area surrounding the base of the bricks. Any suggestions on what may look good against the brick?? Or, should I possibly consider some of the resilient tiles that look like slate in a color that would go with the brick? Would something like that complement?? Maybe a light color tile just in the entry, wood elsewhere? Any other suggestions?...See MoreColor Advice - Need some Advice on No Natural Light
Comments (11)The tile is so neutral, you can go with almost any color. The lighter colors will seem brighter in the dark space. I would find an inspiration piece and go with the colors from that...it can be an outfit you like, a plate, a pic of a room you like, a poster you'd like to hang on the wall...anything. So long as it's something you'd like to look at. Then go with it. My laundry room was inspired by a kitchen I saw on a house tour where the owner had white cabinetry and painted the little bit of wall space in heather. It was luscious, and i loved it so much that the color stuck with me....so now I have a heather colored laundry room...crazy to some, but I love it. And what the heck....it's a laundry room...why not liven it up....See MoreNursery fabric picked , now need advice on paint, etc etc.
Comments (15)Lovely combination of fabrics and colors. Just a thought - are they stain-resistant, and are they washable? Babies are known for messes from both ends, and dry-cleanable fabrics could be an issue. The one other thought I have on the fabrics is that I would do the window seat cushion in the darker coral solid, with perhaps the polka dot for welting, which will create nice continuity with the insides of the cubbies and bulkhead. Then I would use the polka dot, stripe, and floral for the throw pillows, doing one side of each in the prints, and the other in a solid, for more interest. The flat plane of the window cushion wonÂt give you the same impact in the prints that the pillows will. I would do the crib skirt in the stripe, with box pleats inset with the solid fabric. As for the wall color, I would be inclined to go for a very pale shade of the coral or the green, rather than white....See MoreNeed some color advice in the kitchen!
Comments (28)Great kitchen! Now that I see the rest of the area, I don't think I would paint the walls in a color. You don't have a lot of wall space, and I think painting them would distract from the openness. If you MUST paint walls, I would do a very, very light grey and try to avoid a lot of contrast with the white. Instead of paint color, I would suggest you pick a great accessory color and do some things with that...like a substantial rug in a great color. Replace the clock. Get a teapot in a color...not stainless steel. I would remove the doors from the smaller upper cabinets (sink & stove) and use those spaces for cookbooks, pretty napkins in baskets, or other cute display items that go with the kitchen. Bring the color up and use it as part of the architecture. Just some ideas. Gayle...See More
