Comments (19)I think consistency is important, especially in a small space. If most of the finishes are chrome (what's your hardware on the vanity, by the way?), by installing a light or lights that are ORB, you are drawing attention to them and you might want to think about that. Seems like from what I've seen on the shows where people are fixing up to sell, keeping things neutral is a good way to go. And just because you can see the two lights from the LR, doesn't mean they should match; the lav and the LR are very distinct spaces, after all. If you feel its too cold in there with all chrome, perhaps warm up the space with a nice pop of color in your hand towel, mat on the floor if you are so inclined, or other small accessory. Good luck!...See MoreNeed Advice on Mixing Metals in the Kitchen
Comments (9)Well. if you follow trends, then only mix metal finishes that are easy to change later. And aren't expensive to change. Like knock off lighting. Faucets and pulls are more long lived. But, scale back the scale from the giant oversized lights that have seemed to dominate people's Pins for the last 7-8 years. Scale can only be ignored as a room element for a while, but it always comes back to bite you. Giant brass everything is only popular now because of the very cold white and gray look that people feel is lacking in warmth. Because it is. That gray/white trend is changing too. Warm woods are making a great deal of headway in the style setting locations. And modern, not transitional, designs. Warm wood slab cabinets are the next hot thing. Like a mix of 60's -80's, but with less pop art influence. More Zen Modern. Comments (1)The large stainless won’t produce much light. The teal glass fixture will distort the colors in the room. Return them both. The first of the two lights you are considering is best. It is visually unobtrusive, does not distort the colors in the room, and is a clean simple style that will stand the test of time. The small amount of brass will not clash with other metals in your room. Alternately, if you want to match your metals, here is a suggestion:...See MoreKitchen faucet finish and mixing metals
Comments (5)If polished is what you want, then polished is what you should get. Its your kitchen. Get what will make you happy. I promise you, no one’s going to react in horror, when they see your mixed metal fixtures. They probably won’t even notice. It’s like when people ask this forum if they should buy appliances from the same manufacturer, so that the handles will match. Believe me, no one walks into a kitchen, looks around, and takes note of the handles. You purchase whichever appliance meets your budget, and performs well. My kitchen is now 4 years old, About 2 1/2 years after install, my DH was cleaning a large pot, and knocked the spray button off the head of the faucet. One phone call to Kohler, and two days later, a new head was delivered free of charge. Top notch company....See MoreDesigner Drains
