a new look for my 'new to me' kitchen--help!
Comments (4)The pics are kind of tiny so I can't see all he details. Is there a backsplash? I'm thinking you could do a white for a backsplash and white walls and a dirtied yellow on some walls. This would make your beige cabinets look darker and richer. The whole monochromatic look could be punctuated with colors in the accessories. Use some accents of natural wood. Go with chrome or brushed nickle for the hardware instead of black. Is there any way to fit an island into the space? The island could be of another color than the cabinets. The counters seem to bother you and you can't replace them right now you say. A lot of people have had good luck painting their counters. I've never tried it but it is said to have good results and it wears well until they can be replaced. Off course you could paint the cabinets instead too....See Morelooking for a whole new look
Comments (13)Gorgeous room with all those windows but the dark gray wall color makes the room dismal, like a rainy day. Repaint. You say you spend a lot of time in this room...I'm assuming watching TV/movies? Definitely lower that TV OR buy an appropriate size console to place it on. If you use this room for TV viewing, I fail to to see how a couch & 2 chairs help. I swear by sectionals. You can get them in all sorts of configurations & sizes that suit your style as well as seating needs for your family. I don't understand the couch/chair combo. Chairs will have to moved or you will be watching TV with your body/neck at an angle. I'd purchase a non bulky sectional, an "L" shaped one, perhaps with a chaise. Colorful rug. Appropriate size coffee table OR large ottoman for putting feet up. Don't forget side tables for placing drinks & snacks. If there is space for a chair or 2, great. Get one in a patterned fabric. Plants! Get rid of the greenery up there & never put it back. I recently deleted my couch & 2 chair combo because it just didn't work for a TV room. Everybody was fighting for the couch so they could lay & lounge, ignoring the chairs where their necks would be turned to the right in order to see the TV correctly. I purchased a sectional from Room & Board in a dark navy/black fabric. R&B helps with design services & sizing. Made in America furniture...heavy duty with springs, hardwood, performance fabrics, etc. My room was large enough to fit chairs should the space be used for visiting & conversation rather than TV viewing. Best decision I ever made....See MoreRemoving half-moon pediment above window. Need ideas for new look!
Comments (47)We have a window like this in a bedroom. We’ve replaced the whole window bottom and half moon once because the seal broke on the half moon due to the hot sun shining on the half moon and rotting the window frame. Then we just replaced the half moon part with new glass and that room gets unbearably hot or cold now. We can’t pick up our house and turn it. lol I’m not sure what to do to fix this. The builder should have never put that half moon window on the house. Only a regular two panel window. I wish there was an easy fix to just get rid of the half moon and still make the front of our house look nice....See MoreExterior New Look -- need opinions on color, please
Comments (13)Thanks! More landscaping is a goal but very difficult. The ground is packed so hard around the house - very hard to get a hole dug that will drain. I bought pots, but my tenant did not water, and the deer ate most of the things we planted. We had a big-time blizzard that killed some shrubbery that hasn't been replaced....See Morerina_Ontario,Canada 5a
