I need help with my bf's child. Well really what do I do?
Comments (8)Thanks everyone for your support. I know I need to leave but I suppose I've always been a sucker to help people. Amber - Thank you for your words. You are right, the only person I can save is myself. I suppose the battle is really working up the courage to say enough is enough. I struggle because I hate hurting people or feeling like I am letting them down but in the same regard I suppose by me doing things for my partner, he will never do anything to help himself or his son. Colleenoz - thank you for your kind words. I never thought about it like the way you put it. Seeing that he could turn like that if something bad happened to me is some what alarming. Because when I think of the answer to something happening to me and would he be there, I can't answer that. And if I can't answer that, then there is a real big problem. LaVerne - Thank you for your comment. Do I want to change? Yes i really do, so I guess I know what I have to do. Reading Lady - Sadly this situation is real, it would be nice if I was making it up but unfortunately I am not. I know everyone on his mother's side has bi-polar and basically have lived their lives in and out of either jails or foster homes. Sometimes I think the cycle can be broken but in the same regards, it's not my responsibility to have hero complex (i.e. trying to save everyone). Let me just say this, I know that none of you know me from a bar of soap, which in turn makes you more truthful. I appreciate your honesty and i thank you for your wisdom. I know everyone goes through hard stages in life, but you are right. If I am not happy with the situation, then only I can change it. I think it's time for me to worry about myself and get back what I want. If I succeed (and I truly hope I do) than please know every little word by each of you contributed to giving me strength. You all really have no idea how much you have put my mind, heart and bank balance at rest....See MoreWhat to do?DH and I need to decide on our style in about 15 mins.
Comments (22)lynnski, you've given me a great idea. Our kitchen, dining area, and LR are essentially one big room except for the pantry wall that separates the kitchen from the LR. If you look at the third pic from the top you'll see a little bookcase built into my cabs where I keep cookbooks. This end of the cabs faces, and is only a few feet from, the dining area. I've thought those cookbooks don't look right; DH says they look "junky." Anyway, I put the biggest Chinese horse in there all by himself, with the blue Chinese box you see in the cookbook photo underneath him, with only one very low shelf. He looks great, and carries on the living room feeling into the dining area. Only questions I have are that there's not much contrast between him and the oak bookcase, and also it might look a little stark. I'll post a pic on a new thread when I can get one. I'm thinking the cookbooks (I keep them neatly) will transfer their "junkiness" to the top of the cabs if I put them there, and they're also not tall enough. Don't think we can afford to put an extra row of cabs up there though. Thanks for your ideas. The Chinese horse looks very much at home. summiebee, you're right about the view. I wanted the house to have as little demarcation between the inside and outside as possible, with a glass wall. Didn't turn out that way -- builder convinced us that with our high winds we'd never be comfortable -- but he also put the windows higher than we wanted, and one expense we're going to undertake is to find a way to make the view windows bigger. They're 8x5 now, but we're going to put in non-operating glass doors or something instead. Thanks again, all....See MoreI need help deciding what color tile to change the backsplash to.
Comments (8)This is going to be a challenge. I agree that the current backsplash clashes with the new granite. I would not do white tiles. Here is what you need to keep in mind. You need a transition color that will play well with the oak and the counter. Side story: I had to do my BS twice. We put in BM Dove White cabinets but picked (I was out voted!) a brown/taupe Giallo granite counter. We put a white BS in and it looked horrible. It was fighting with the counter. I wound up with a Grazia Rixie crackle tile in a cream color. The cream of the tile matches with the cream in the granite and transitions nicely from the white of the cabinets. It is difficult to see, but I am hoping you have a cream tone in the counter. Your counter reads taupe to me so a very light taupe might work. Ignore the white appliance. At some point, I would like to see stainless because the white is too stark with your browns. I agree with lefty about lighting, but I doubt it will help as your current BS appears gold/yellow....See MoreI need help in deciding to what to do with Cherry Cabinets ?
Comments (47)Hi everyone, My husband Norm is a retired builder now. Most of the nicer homes he had built either had a architect or a decorator .They were involved making important design decisions and they selections and colors. I think having a pro is huge if you can afford it ;) We are on budget being retired and I had to work hard to put this all together. I spent hours and hours deciding what would look best in our new home with being concerned on the bottom cost. I got to decide on all the colors and products used. I recently met a friend /new tennis partner who is a pro (interior design) she helped me with colors and tile selection. Thank you Deb. I loved the input from everyone here! I will share the finished kitchen next week....See Morelazy_gardens
