Need help deciding what do do with this garden
Comments (4)I can't tell, do the plants go all the way to the fence? How about trellising something over the fence? Or adding some height behind the left bed. Say, scarlet runner over a tripod trellis? You have a nice lush burst of color going :)...See MoreNeed help deciding what to do with small ditch
Comments (2)I don't know if you are still checking this but, if so I'd go with making it a dry creek look. Add lots of stones/riverrock/bolders all the way up sides and into the yard. Then add plantings around that you like maybe, some that would hang down. If you like tropical add palms and grasses and stuff. If not maybe river birch or weeping willow and interspersed plantings that would look cool and whimsy. Maybe even something in the ditch but keep in a pot so it want block drainage like canna, cattails, umbrella palm or irises. Hope this can give some ideas Pattie...See MoreAm I too picky? Comments (8)Same contractor and his guys did all the work. Stairs part of the contract read... Basement Stairs - Remove existing stair tread, riser and carpet from skirt board Cost is based on using the existing stair stringers and skirt boards. Install new Oak stair tread, plywood riser and oak handrails on both sets of stairs. Install oak flooring on landing on stairs - 2 landings Repair drywall on stairwell walls Note: Varnishing and painting were not in the contract, but were agreed upon as an extra. Are we being too picky? In this stairway, there was only plank stairs so practically everything is new....See MoreNeed help deciding what to do in my backyard.
Comments (4)Do you have to rush it? Landscaping is a big deal and can add a lot to resale. Why not check out Sunset Magazine (their website or design books) for ideas. You goals are not opposed; a pretty and low—maintainance yard is good for resale. But take your time and think this through. Don’t just pave it over or use fake grass. In fact, can you imagine life without a lawn? It’s possible. I haven’t had a lawn in >20 years. Sunset has plenty of article of people creating beautiful water-wise yards w/o grass. If you don’t want to take the time to research and plan all of this (and I could see why—-after finishing your construction project) consider hiring a landscape architect to at least come over and give you some ideas of what will grow well in your different micro—climates....See MoreRelated Professionals
