It's impossible to "ignore the mess" as if affects what space is even available in this room. Those chests are going to be in the way of that door and be banged by it constantly. Get everything our of this room, install your bed and a bedside table, and then see what space you have remaining and what you must have to make the room functional.

Love Emily's style! Are those chests in bad shape? Is that why you're looking to do a makeover to them? What size bed are you planning for? Are you renting? Can you draw up a floorplan with measurements? Even rough one. It is hard to get a feel for the layout from your pics.

It seems you could either put your bed (headboard) either on the wall opposite the window wall or on the wall next to the door into your room....from what I can tell by the pics. You say this is a new room, so I'm assuming you are renting a room in a home...that is why all your stuff is piled up in the space.

Thank you! I’m sorry, I should’ve been clearer - this is owned but I don’t live there year round. I’m now there for Summer and switched rooms with someone so this particular room is new to me. Nearly everything in the mess is clothing, shoes, bathroom products, etc. that will be put away in the closet. There is also bathroom or items/boxes used to help transport stuff from one room to another. I just haven’t had time to do it yet but none of that stuff will be there once I fill the closet.

I have a full bed and the two chests and that’s basically it right now. I also bought this dresser but I’m not sure about it.

It has what I was thinking for the dressers and chests but I’m open. Besides that i have the full bed and would maybe get nightstands and I would also consider a desk or something to do make up at or some other storage cabinet or shelving or something.

Oh and the chests are in decent shape! They’re dinged up and worn for sure so I just wanted to breathe new life into them if there is a way to upgrade a little

Why not use the chests as night stands with wall-mounted swing arm lamps or tall lamps to get the right proportions between the bed and lighting? Or if the chests are way too short to function as night stands as is, add legs or a base to elevate them.

If all clothes and bathroom supplies will fit in the closet do you really need a dresser?Oops, now I see that you already have the dresser.

The window area would be a good place to have a comfortable chair, table and lamp for reading.

I can use piece too if you think I could use it?

I have so many clothes that I feel like I need a dresser to have storage drawers and not just hanging! It hasn’t arrived yet though. And I could use the chests as nightstands! I do kinda like how they look when put together though side by side. I was thinking about a reading nook too! But also a little dressing area and make up area near the window would be nice for natural light. I usually sit on the couch downstairs to read and not in my room :)

I'd definitely do the bed opposite the windows and use those chests as nightstands, then create a makeup nook by the window. Do you already have a bed? If not, this one screams Emily Henderson to me. Also available in white.

Then I'd put a midcentury desk in front of the window for a makeup area (scroll up to one of your inspiration pics to see that in action). Put a wall mirror on the inside left wall of that window nook, and a poof in front of it for propping your feet up to paint your toenails. Maybe a large plant on the floor to the right of the desk. Sheesh, I need to figure that set up into my own house.

Look at your first group of inspiration photos. Towards the end of them is a desk in front of a window. Looks like it's covering the bottom of it. Looks amazing to me!

What's the space of this bedroom? As it is visible, I think the bedroom is not big so you can install some wall cabinets to enable space to put a dresser or a work desk.
