Hi Beverly, the chairs are gray actually. I purchased here at Houzz. And the wall is a dark teal. The rest of the house is equally bright during the day. I have big windows opposite this dining area. At night though, it’s very dark. I have high ceilings past this dining area.

Wow, these are great ideas! I don’t want an open hutch because it reminds me of farmhouse. My issue with the chairs is matching the wood. I like the upholstered chairs more. I was thinking a cream hutch. Love the chandelier ideas as well!

The room could benefit from a new chandelier. If you have a need for a buffet, scootch back the chairs on that side of the room and see if you have enough room for something. It is also possible to buy console tables that are only 12" deep. I don't think one 36" square picture is going to fill the wall adequately. There was one poster a couple months ago who put family pictures in her dining room. This is unique, but it was a good way to fill the space with things she wanted to display. I'm all for breaking the rules when it suits you. Strangers shouldn't be able to tell you what you should or shouldn't put on your walls. :-) Here are some pictures of things other people did with similar space. To add to chispa’s observation, making another seating group with the white leather sofa that was in the dining room is a possibility too. I’m all for buying new furniture but sometimes reimagining what is already on hand can work nicely too. There are already 9 dining chairs/stools adjacent to each other, possibly 11 if end chairs are added to the table, plus 3-4 more stools at the sofa console. If your lifestyle prioritizes dining seating options more than lounging, you know best. Not trying to persuade anyone, just making an observation.
