new sliding barn door style

last modified: 5 years ago

This is our new laundry room door. previously we had a standard hollow 6 panel white door. After it broke 20 years later, I decided to replace it with a barn door style solid Walnut door purchased unfinished from Allegheny Wood Works in Lake City Pa.

I sanded, stained and top coated it myself.
The top half is V-Groove colonial clear glass.

Stained with General Finishes: 3 parts American Walnut, 1 part Spiced Walnut. 4 coats of Waterlox with the final coat satin.

The sliding door gave us 15" more room in the pathway from the kitchen through the laundry room to the garage. Before, since we left the door open most times, and across from the open door was the dryer, ever time we opened the dryer door, we had to close the laundry room door because of the narrow walkway.
