Wall color to go with reddish brown accent wall?
Comments (1)When I saw your post, I immediately thought of the newest issue of Better Homes and Gardens. They have a section dedicated to palettes. The reddish brown town they have pictured is BM Raisin. The colors they've picked to "go" are: BM Natural Wicker OC-1 - "A warm neutral for large pieces." Jamaican Aqua 2048-60 "Adds the pop. Match small upholstered pieces and pillows to this hue." Raisin 1237 "Try this reddish brown on trim, using a semigloss finish." Porter Ranch Cream 148 "With a hint of peach, this cream takes the starkness out of white ceilings." Intense Peach 081 "A warm shade that's like a comforting blanket on walls. If you're color-shy, limit it to a feature wall." Also, Benjamin Moore is coming out with full spectrum paints (like Ellen Kennon). They've only got it available at 5 retailers now, but will be rolling it out this year. I'll post a link. Good Luck! Comments (12)Well, I went and bought a gallon of "Ramie" is Cashmere Flat. I really am not ready to paint yet, but I couldn't resist painting at least one of the walls. Cashmere went on like a dream! No splatters or drips, went on so smooth and dried with no marks. Looks just about as good as the Aura in my kitchen, and easier to work with. I still love the color. In my lighting, the green undertone comes out pretty strongly, which I like. I almost actually like the color better when just the overhead light is on without all the lamps, etc. I really love blue-green and thought I could do it on the walls, but I just couldn't get it to work. Now with a neutral backdrop that has a green undertone, I can bring in pillows and accessories in blue-green and other colors and they'll really "pop". The creaminess and lightness of the color helps with the darkness in the room, and although I guess it is a warm color, it still seems to have a coolness to it due to the green undertones--I also find it slightly more grayed-out than other SW neutral tans. Even though I had a terrible weekend with $500 in unexpected car repairs and other problems, it was almost worth it to finally end this seemingly futile search! Now I can go crazy and pick my greens and blues for the bedroom and bathroom!...See MoreNeed Help Choosing the best neutral gray paint color
Comments (10)There really is no substitution for testing the colors in your space and different light through the day. For a suppposedly neutral color, greys can be tricky. Fact of the matetr is that a greyy can be any color plus black or some canceling tones. Revere Pewter goes violet on me and Edgecomb grey a bit green in some rooms. I wound up going to Sherwin Williams and trying their colors. Agreeable Grey was the right tone for my living areas, but I am doing them at 150% to get a little deeper color. I am using Anew Grey in my entry and stairwell -- that hasn't been done yet. . More important to your question about going with cool and warm colors -- the Agreeable Grey in my FR had to work with red brick, cherry hutch and dark wood floors as well as blue, green and white in the upoho;stery, rug and kitchen cabinets and counters. Anything that tended green made the red brick fireplace more intense and anything too warm made it pinker/orangier. Agreeable Grey at 100% was too light -- was too close to my grout and looked chalky, so we just added more color and went to 150%. SInce it is a light color to begin with, it is still light, just richer. The result was amazing -- my red brick calmed down. No more orangey, purpley/brown red. And it is so soft and neutral with the blues,, green and white. We did the ceiling at a reduced value. It was the first time I had used SW paints and as much as I liked BM, I was just as pleased with this job (DIY)....See MoreWhat accessory color would be best to accent this modern kitchen?
Comments (15)Beautiful kitchen! Right now I am on a teal kick and I have it in my kitchen, family room and living room. In my family room I paired it with with a golden yellow and red. I found an accent pillow with all 3 of those colors in it and picked other accents around it. If you love yellow and orange, I'd run with it. And you can easily change out those colors if you get bored....See MoreAJCN
