Moore's Striped Rugosa no stripes?!

Hi,

I'm new to posting on the Forum but definitely not new to it, as I've been obsessively reading for years :-). Thank you all for imparting all your wisdom, experience, and life-long knowledge! I've learned so much from you all! This is my first post, so I hope I do it right.

I bought a baby Moore's Striped Rugosa last spring. It came as a tiny band, but very healthy and vigorous. It spent the entire year quietly setting its root system and growing leaves without blooming. It just bloomed for the very first time as a second year young plant. The beautiful flowers, about 1.5" across fully open, are very fragrant, but no stripes. Nope - not one stripe in sight on the entire bush. I've learned on this Forum that young roses often produce uncharacteristic flowers - unusual colors, smaller bloom size, different petal counts, etc. But no stripes on a supposedly striped cultivar? Is this normal? I'm in zone 7a in central NJ.

Thank you all!
