Here's what I've got right now: Heliopsis helianthoides var. scabra âÂÂSummer Nightsâ (The mother plant grew 3â tall in the first year from a poor, neglected transplant that I thought IâÂÂd murdered by forgetting to water it one too many times when it was still in its little black plastic container. Oops! But it sprang back from literally nothing and wowed me with its red-purple stems, dark green leaves, and the yellow, daisy-like flowers that followed. Another bonus is that goldfinches seem to really like eating the seeds so if you have any in your area you may be delighted to see them precariously dangling from a spent blossom pecking around for a little snack.) Perilla frutescens var. frutescens (Korean âÂÂEgomaâ type with leaves that are green on top and purple underneath. The aroma and flavor is like a combination of peppermint and purple basil with a hint of cilantro, I think. I hear it makes a wonderful pesto⦠wish IâÂÂd known that sooner. LOL. Well, thereâÂÂs always next year. ^_^) Foeniculum vulgare var. dulce (Florence or âÂÂFinocchioâ Fennel. Attracted a constant stream of fascinating-looking Black Swallowtail caterpillars and their breathtaking butterfly counterparts to my garden this year. Also kept the former from eating the foliage off of my nearby carrots and parsley instead, which was a nice bonus! The yellow flowers were so charming that I didnâÂÂt mind when the plants bolted early because of an unexpected heat wave. And there was so much of the fine, feathery foliage that I always had plenty to chop up and use as a kitchen herb whenever I craved the sweet, anise-like flavor. ItâÂÂs soooo good with olive oil-roasted veggies.) Plum Crazy Hibiscus (Amazing perennial hibiscus. 3-4â tall, shrubby habit with huge 8-10â deep rosey-purple blooms for several weeks during the summer to early fall. Your neighbors will make a fuss over the flowers! ThereâÂÂs no other hibiscus growing anywhere near it, so from what I can tell it should seed true-to-type color-wise. However, juuuuuust in case IâÂÂll say that it may surprise you and bloom with a different color like white, pink, or even red. Still lovely, but perhaps not in your color scheme. From what IâÂÂve read, hardy hibiscus types like this one really do tend to produce offspring identical to the parents as long as they are self-pollinated. However, if the possibility of a dramatic little shrub covered in huge white saucer-sized flowers showing up in your garden doesnâÂÂt tickle your fancy, you may not want to take the risk.) - Yarn

It may be that some will do better in the shade than you imagine. I was just looking at Mme Joseph Schwartz in the cemetery, growing in nearly full shade, and blooming nicely. Climbing roses might be able to go up trees, too. I don't really know what to suggest about selling them. Ebay, perhaps, and tell the buyers that they must pick them up? Local rose societies? If they are in pots, and you can wait, is it possible to get a space at the Celebration of Old Roses? I don't think that they charge much for a stall. Hope to see you at Dirt Day. Anita

I got Mirandy as a band from Burlington last month. It's completely yellow, very chlorotic. Burling told me to give it nitrogen, and she is right. Since it's a hybrid tea, I made the potting mix more alkaline by putting in some of my clay soil (alkalinity suppresses fungal growth). Mirandy didn't like it, so I changed the potting soil to neutral by using Organic MiracleGro (pH of 7). I gave her some blood meal NPK of 12-0-0. Normally this green up things fast in my garden, but not Mirandy. Then I gave it sulfur, Mirandy didn't like it either. I have a pale but productive Christopher Marlowe that greened up quickly with Schultz soluble fertilizer for acid plants NPK of 32-10-10, with all trace elements and triple the amount of iron. I gave Mirandy this, and she sprouted new dark green leaves immediately. I remember reading about how weak of a grower Mirandy in the Encyclopedia of Roses, but her bloom is large and very raspberry fragrant. My hunch is that weak grower needs a good dose of nitrogen and trace elements. My other hunch is that roses that tolerate alkaline soil, such as Golden Celebration, Paul Neyron, and mini-roses (descendants of China roses) REALLY HAVE a fungal issue on acidic soil. My neighbor planted her mini-rose right into our alkaline soil, pH of 7.7, and it blooms really well with zero fungal diseases. But when I put the mini-roses into green bag MiracleGro potting soil (pH of 6.5), they lost all their leaves to blackspots. Mirandy doesn't tolerate alkaline soil, so she's disease-free in a neutral pH. Even when I gave her sulfur, she didn't break out in blackspots like Paul Neyron. She definitely responded to a fast acting, soluble NPK of 32-10-10.

eponymouse I live in Sweden and we already have the new line of Asko washers you are talking about. What I have seen in test of earlyer machines fron asko are that they are about midrange in cleaning and rather low at rinsing how that will be in the new models time will tell..... Have read the top of the line manual and there are stuff you can program. There are a more water option, do not know if it ads even to wash or just rinse. You can ad 2 more rinses. Both these are not awailable in all programs. What is it you want to know specificly, but we have to remember that it can vary from Eu to Us, I will gladly read more of the manual if you want me to.
