Living Room Layout Dilemma

Hi,
We need help with designing a layout with a good flow for this living room. The pictured furniture/frames etc will be all gone.
We don’t want the tv (55-60 in) to go over the fireplace or be angled in a corner.
Drapes/blinds ideas for the huge windows would be nice, without breaking the bank!
Any ideas for layouts/furniture placement/ decor idea will help- I’m stymied at the moment.

5 years agolast modified: 5 years agoTV wall mounted with a cabinet/console below that is 25% wider than the TV. Sofa without the chaise and two swivel chairs, this idea but opposite wall.

Comments (1)ok, i think you can do banquette in the corner, 2 on the outside 1 on each end, 2 on the inner banquette for when you have company. Comments (11)Thank you! The room will be used for TV viewing mainly and if we have company we would use the room for entertaining. We have a family room with a fireplace the next level down with no room for a TV and in the basement we have my husband's man cave room. This room was the best choice to have another space to watch TV that is no too close to the man cave room. What sold me on this room was the tall ceilings with the long, dramatic curtains. I am just having a hard time with the layout as the windows on the left are not centered and I feel like the couch is cut in half. We're actually trying to get away from the southwest feel, but some floor treatments are a good idea... probably will have a good effect when the hard floors go in down the road. I have to agree with you about the shoji screen--this was really a (half-baked) attempt to pull those massive ceilings down and try to complement the upward profile of the kiva fireplace. Comments (16)I have never understood why anyone wants to sit facing the fireplace. In both my last home and my current home my sofa was across from the TV and the fireplace was on the wall between the sofa and fireplace. I watch TV. I don't watch the fireplace. I allow the warmth from the fireplace to warm the area where I am sitting. Can you provide the actual room dimensions? It will help us know what can fit where. 5 years agoThis living room is similar to yours......see if all the pieces shown can fit into your room in this configuration...it has large windows and a short wall adjacent to the windows for the TV. Sofas and or sofa and love seat, pair of benches, console for large TV on wall opposite the sofa for ease of viewing....large cocktail table.

Photography of home for Dana Neeld - Staging Spaces · More InfoI think your room is big enough that you can have a sofa and a set of chairs or another sofa and another chair as is show in these rooms.....the important thing is to have your sofa or largest seating piece facing the sofa for ease of viewing.

5 years agoI have bought 2 sofas for this space, and I am leaning towards putting a console with the tv in corner where the plant is, and positioning the sofas at right angles towards it ( one parallel to fireplace and one perpendicular).
What kind/color of rug would work? Plain neutral shag type? It will be heavily used so looking for something cheerful but easy to maintain. Thank you!
