What is your favorite holiday song?
Comments (27)This is a good thread, very enjoyable. There are so many favorites, but two that are special to me are: 1. I'll Be Home for Christmas. My father would tell us every time that the song came on about how this was the song they played on the ship on his way to Germany during the Korean War. It became such a funny thing that when I was older, I would end up calling him when I would hear it and say "Dad, did I ever tell you about the time you were on a ship in the army and they played "I'll Be Home for Christmas?...well it's on the radio right now". What a great guy he was, miss him a lot. 2. "Oh Holy Night" a memory created only about 6 years ago--we were on a cruise for Christmas, and we were leaving St. Lucia on Christmas Eve, so standing at the aft of shift watching the island disappear, this was the song that was softly playing on the ship's PA system. Oh, the goosebumps I get. I still don't know if it was Celine Dion or Gloria Estefan singing it. So of course, I have both versions on my iTouch....See MoreWhat is your favorite song of all time
Comments (53)Way way too many to list, or even to bring to mind! My top one is probably Canon in D - My heart turns over when I listen to that song. Second, maybe River Dance. I love so many that are already listed in this thread. Someone mentioned Oh Danny Boy and in that same category is Loch Lomand, two ancient songs that I've sung thousands of times. Used to sing them to my kids when they were babies and still sing them to myself from time to time. I have some favorite hymns... Amazing Grace and This is my Father's World are a couple. Unchained Melody - Wonderful song mentioned above. Many others. I love country western and old time rock. My list would be dozens if not hundreds!...See MoreWhat are your favorite song lyrics?
Comments (32)I Am Woman..by Helen Reddy. I LOVE that song. (Helen Reddy and Ray Burton) I am woman, hear me roar In numbers too big to ignore And I know too much to go back an' pretend 'Cause I've heard it all before And I've been down there on the floor No one's ever gonna keep me down again Oh yes, I am wise But it's wisdom born of pain Yes, I've paid the price But look how much I gained If I have to I can do anything I am strong (strong) I am invincible (invincible) I am woman You can bend but never break me 'Cause it only serves to make me More determined to achieve my final goal And I come back even stronger Not a novice any longer 'Cause you've deepened the conviction in my soul Oh, yes, I am wise But it's wisdom born of pain Yes, I've paid the price But look how much I gained If I have to I can face anything I am strong (strong) I am invincible (invincible) I am woman I am woman watch me grow See me standing toe to toe As I spread my lovin' arms across the land But I'm still an embryo With a long, long way to go Until I make my brother understand Oh, yes, I am wise But it's wisdom born of pain Yes, I've paid the price But look how much I gained If I have to I can face anything I am strong (strong) I am invincible (invincible) I am woman Oh, I am woman I am invincible I am strong I am woman I am invincible I am strong I am woman...See MoreYour Favorite Holiday Songs & Artists
Comments (37)I had a tape called Ace Cannon's Christmas or something like that. It had several beautiful Christmas songs done with his saxaphone. I played it every year for a long time. One year I took it to work for our Christmas party and it disappeared. I have searched high and low for another one. I went to his web sight a couple of years ago and there were a couple with some Christmas songs on them, but not the same one I lost. My mother plays music at some local clubs and local gatherings. One night Ace Cannon was there playing too. Mom called me and I went to where they were. I was able to talk to Ace Cannon, but he said he had nothing to do with his marketing and inventory and said to try his web sight. I told him I already did, but with no luck. He seemed genuinely sorry, but could offer no help. I haven't tried this year to find it, but I may try again. It would be so nice to find it. Linda...See Moremaggie200
