Personally I would look at Intergrity by Marvin. Also being in Michigan you may want to investigate triple pane since you are in a cold climate. The first that stands out to me on the Wallside website are the sales gimmicks.

I used Northstar windows from Clarkston Windows & Doors (in Pontiac) on a addition/remodeling project. Home owners are happy.

+1 on the recommendation for triple pane. Michigan certainly produces climate ranges that would call for it.

With regards to the window recommendations, in vinyl (i.e. like the one you have a quote on), Soft-Lite, Sunrise, Okna, Kensignton Quantum 2, are all quality options.

Ksc's option is worth considering.

You have poor and way too expensive project planning going on here. You need to research more, plan better, buy better, and maybe not do this at all. Don’t waste money and effort.

Not a fan of the integrity or Andersen in this case, I’d take WOW’s recommendations if vinyl is a option.

For value and service, Wallside is a great company. They have been in Michigan for 74 years and take care of their customers extremely well.

DIY some storm windows for the mean time. They were used for generations for a reason. They are actually more effective than a lot of double paned windows. Interior plastic works too. Both for winter.

On an older home, DIY restoration of the original wood windows should be on the table. Look at the TOH article on how to. Old home original details are a valuable treasure and not to be discarded lightly.

They look like they are in fine shape right now. Check the sills and make sure the storms are well sealed and you should be fine.

They look like old Andersen’s, I think they are pretty sweet, always hated when I replaced them. They should be alright with a storm, not that air right on there own.

I would replace the window.

Replace may be the way to go but if could make sense to repair them if they match other windows in the Room or house.

Those windows are beautiful and how lucky that you found the storms. Chipped wood looks minor. You can paint over the chip if you don’t mind “character” or fill it in. I used a product called Wood Epox/Liquid Wood to repair the outside trim of my wood windows and it was fun and they look brand new.
