Help! Which Persian rug
Comments (5)Link not working! Fix it so we can see the rugs. Also, post pix of room where its going so we can see furniture, etc. love, love oriental rugs....!!! My first inclination, without seeing the room, is to say go tribal....the more traditional medallion patterns are harder to get centered with furniture....See Morehow to create a modern glam look with a persian rug
Comments (9)With a complementary color scheme, this rug will actually amplify your glam modern aesthetic. Because of the high interest pattern in the rug, seating can be done in a muted, solid, complementary palette with those bold clean lines that qualify the modern look. Rich, supple textiles (lambskin, furs, etc) will accent and elevate the room. Accessories with traditional silhouettes re-imagined in modern finishes will help unite yours and your husband's tastes. Think chrome, lacquered, or even acrylics. Lastly, the jewelry of the room: a chandelier. Consider investing in a substantial chandelier or pendant lighting with crystal-like detailing. Chandeliers can read as simultaneously glam and traditional, a win win for you and the hubby!...See MorePersian style rug made modern?
Comments (19)Keepthefaith, there’s no garden, this is a condo unit downtown - there is a small balcony that overlooks a row of trees in the summer but nothing interesting in the winter. Allison, i love your idea of looking for a vintage modern piece for the TV. I will take a look around. West Elm is so expensive, I splurged big time on the sofa - I can’t bring myself to spend much for a TV table. I’m actually considering moving the TV to the spare bedroom that I was hoping to use as a guest room/play room/ office combination. My kids are 5 and 8 so they’re in school while I work from home. The 15x10 bedroom can maybe be a multifunctional room. I guess that would be a topic of its own! That being said, I totally see where you’re coming from for the piano. Part of me also finds it a shame that it’ll be hiding the sofa a bit. Maybe by moving the TV out of this room, the piano could go where the TV is. The living room would also be less crowded this way. I don’t mind a bit of open space - my kids are young enough that they’ll appreciate the space to spread out, dance around, set up a show, do a floor puzzle, etc. I’m still struggling with the coffee table too. I don’t hate freedomspace’s suggestion but I don’t love it either. Maybe a tad too industrial for me? Can one live without a coffee table?...See Morecolor of couches with red Persian rugs
Comments (13)I would do both the same....I have an off white sofa ottoman and love seat in a room with a large Persian rug in the red tones and I like it a lot....on the other hand I have a soft rosy, cream and blue striped sofa in another room with a red toned Persian rug....and I like that look too, albeit more formal. If you really have a huge room, you might think of the new sofa being very long and upholster it the same as the older one...unless you are looking for the balance of 2 like sized pieces. and please don't cheapen and compromise that lovely rug with cheap looking "persian rug" throw pillows....See MoreNancy Walton
