Comments (3)We just went through the same decision process and ended up ordering the backless Napoleon barstools from Pottery Barn. They are well made. Check out the Napoleons if you're interested in backless or the Schoolhouse stools if you do want backs: Napoleon Backless Schoolhouse Barstools Others are available at the PB web site as well. Comments (16)I have simple stools from ikea no swivel, no back. My niece still hangs back and tilts them. It drives me nuts. Nobody has ever fallen off a stool at any age. Unless they are toddlers, I wouldn't worry too much. I also wouldn't plan my countertop around my stools. Do you need them to plan the shape or the material of the counter? What is it that you have decided yet? try overstock.com and homedecorators.com I'm sure cate just meant to buy a stool and see how you like it shape-wise not use it and return it. There is nothing wrong with buying a stool to see if the shape is right and returning it if it isn't. If you want the stools to blend in, then match the wood. If you do a different wood, it would have to match some other furniture. Painted stools can match or not match. Like nancy's. They just stand out nicely. Comments (4)I don't know if you have done a lot of faux finishes, but bar stools is not a good start for a crackle finish. It would be difficult to explain why but it has to do with the legs and the rounds. I would spray paint bar stools an decidedly different color and no crackle here. I think it not only is very difficult but will bring down the look of your room and devalue what you are trying to accomplish. I don't think that is true of all crackle finishes as they are great in some locations, just not this one. JMHO, flame me, flame me but I think you need to go with a strong other color in solid paint. Do I see black on your frames on the wall? Black will give your room another dimension and bulk it up as it needs that. It will give it the look it deserves....See MoreProblems with Bar Stools--Need Advice
Comments (2)If I'm right they are very well made spindel legged and backed stools. If so then other than being wood I'd say there's no way to make them seem more mission style. Mission style is very straight or angled. If I'm wrong about Tell City then I agree, pix would really help....See Moremandeelea
