Anyone used SW Quietude or Rainwashed?
Comments (20)Me! ME! My friend has Quietude in her library. It is one of the most soothing, beautiful colors. She paired it with a dark leather sofa, white trim and then painted the back of her bookcases Spice from Devine paints. It is a goregous room..of which I have no pictures to share :( In my experience it reads much less vibrant then the pics posted here. Maybe lighting difference. The painters are painting my master bed & bath Quietude next week......See MoreLiving room paint color w/ maroon brick fireplace
Comments (39)An update, as I think we have a winner! Thanks for all the amazing suggestions - I can't even say how helpful this was. My husband rejected a few of the options, like the sage greens. We sampled some more of the finalists and were much happier with these choices than the cooler greys we tried last weekend, which we hated. It was a tough call between Sea Pearl and Revere Pewter, but Sea Pearl won, primarily because we also want to use it the same color in the adjoining hallway, which also leads to some other rooms where we will be using more dramatic colors, so the lighter shade seemed better. Incidentally, we also decided that for the whole house, Cotton Balls will work better than White Dove on the trim and ceilings. We have White Dove in our condo and love it, but the light in the new house is totally different. The White Dove just seems dingy in some rooms, especially the north-facing ones. I'll update this thread with "after" pics in a couple weeks! Samples! You can also see that in the interim, the floors have been refinished! Woohoo! The Sea Pearl is hard to discern in this first pic because it's pretty close to the color of the raw horsehair plaster we will be painting over. (There used to be wallpaper.) But it's swatched to the left of the Revere Pewter, I swear. Here's the hallway. It's crazy how different the light is from room to room in this house. (Still doesn't explain why the downstairs bedroom, just visible on the left, was painted orange...we're going to use the Revere Pewter in there.)...See Morehelp me break up this sea of beige!

Comments (15)Have you thought of a light green? I could see both light blues or greens in your space, @MomMom M. Anyway, just watched Sarah Richardson's paint tour of her Starlight Farm on YT. Her colour palette is all about soothing whites and watery colours and when she waxed poetic about Dulux' Chelsea Fog in her principal bedroom. "....a bit of green, a bit of blue, a bit of grey...", I thought of your post. She calls it a changeable colour (which means light can probably make it look totally different depending on time of day). She also has a great neutral alternative to white and grey that's not really beige (Glidden's Meeting House White) and talks about mixing warm and cool colours in her home. I think I've used Dulux in our powder room but have no experience with Glidden. Anyway, her little tour certainly piqued my interest in these two brands. @Jennifer Hogan's statement that "everyone has a different happy place when it comes to color." is SO true. It doesn't matter if we can't find online reviews on a paint colour. What matters is we like the colour. (Assuming we're painting for ourselves and not resale, of course. :)) Best of luck with your search. Hope you'll report back....See Morechronicook
