Comments (7)Nice room. That hearth looks like a stumble hazard. Do forewarn your guests, especially any elderly guests. Consider painting the metal staircase black and it will go well with any color you choose and the hearth as well. A neutral wall color that would go with the brick that is not gray could be Sahara Desert Sand or something similar -- a tan without a pink or yellow hue. You might consider a full window length swag valance for your window -- choose "natural" for your color. https://windowtoppers.com/collections/kitchen-curtains-and-valances/products/roslyn-3-piece-tailored-country-swags-filler-valance-window-curtains-set-with-banded-edge?variant=46144210566 Edit to add: while I was looking for a link for the swag for the window, two people beat me to it. Comments (27)Don't force the sectional to line up with the kitchen entry. No need for a beeline to the kitchen. The sectional overall dimensions as indicated on the plan: 108" x 108". This size allows for 44" from the back of the sectional to the kitchen entry which is more then enough room behind the sofa. Don't leave too much room between furniture or too spread out or too small and forced into an area. This a common mistake most people make and then have a room that doesn't work. 15" to 18" is the most you need from the front edge of the sofa to the edge of the coffee table. The depth of the tv unit drawn is 18" deep and you only need a bookcase depth- 12". Remember that when you look at a floor plan, the furniture is only 30" to 33" high and will not visually block off the room. If you still feel you need more access to the kitchen, eliminate the end table between the recliner and the sofa and move the recliner a little towards the fireplace. This way you can pass between the recliner and the sofa to the kitchen PLAN A - SHOWING DIMENSIONS AND CLEARANCES PLAN B - SHOWING DIMENSIONS AND CLEARANCES WITH RECLINER MOVED TOWARDS FIREPLACE AND TABLE BETWEEN SOFA AND RECLINER ELIMINATED....See MoreBest Behr Interior Paint Color for Living Room w/ Honey Wood Floors
Comments (15)Beverly, wow thank you for those beautiful renderings. So helpful and definitely food for thought! :) I have decided I will probably be refinishing the floors in a few years to a mid tone (less orangey) brown, because that is what I'm bumping on. The texture in the ceiling is from the weight of these massive beams in the attic. The window is probably a newer addition as the home has changed a few hands since it was built in 1921. I actually don't mind the stone on the fireplace. Maybe I'm crazy but I like it! Thank you again for all your thoughts! Holly, our furniture all rather neutral (think medium to dark woods, mid tone grays). Most added colors or accents are in the blue and gold and silver families). I will have oil rubbed bronze leaning towards black knobs and pulls throughout the house. Liz, I will definitely get a sample of soft focus. I also love your trim/woodwork...bit of sugar is so pretty. Thank you!...See MoreSnaggy
