miele vs subzero refrigerator
Comments (9)I'd go with the Subzero. I spent several months house sitting for a friend who had the 42" side by side with custom doors. I don't know the exact model because it was almost 20 years old. It came with the house when he bough it, and after owning it himself for 10 years he remodeled his kitchen, kept the fridge, and just replaced the door fronts. Five years later it's still running fine. It was well lit, held lots of stuff, was quiet, and looked great. My own Miele KF1801Vi, on the other hand, has been the source of many service calls for two different problems. I'm so fed up with it that I looked into replacing it with the 30" SubZero, but the door panels and cabinetry won't fit. Seems I'm stuck with it but I really wish I weren't. Go SubZero I'd say....See MoreRefrig-fully integrated/bottom freezer--Miele vs SubZero?
Comments (2)We are building a house and we chose the Miele 36 inch--not yet installed. We were sold by the quality of the door, the way the custom wood could completely cover the fridge door, the beautiful lighting, the crisper, the completely movable shelves and lots of reading from these forums re: some of the issues with the sub zero. If you go to the showroom it helps to see the differences. We are counting on the Miele track record stated in this forum. Because it is counter depth, we know we will only have fresh items--within view. We decided on refrigerator drawers in our island to off load our fridge of drinks and such....See MoreMiele Columns vs. Sub-Zero Bi48SD Fridge/Freezer
Comments (5)Just for clarity, the Miele cooler boxes are made at the BSH factory in Turkay. The electronics are made by Miele, I believe (but am not sure) in Germany, and I've heard that final assembly is in Germany. Still not USA, but for what it's worth. I chose Miele primarily because the units fit better in my kitchen. I grew up with SubZero and originally assumed I'd get that. Both are good. SubZero has a long history of mostly exceptional units. Miele created the current offerings for the North American market so there's much less of a record, but the repair folks seem to think they're just as good. Things I liked better about Miele, besides the sizes, include the lower drawers that are the full depth of the firdge and the shallow door shelves, the height, the feel of the drawers and shelves, the angle of the doors when open, and, of course, the glamour lighting. I also like how easy it is to remove the shelves and baskets for cleaning. I think one of the weak points, however, is where the clips that hold the drawers on the rails connect. They're a little too plasticy, sometimes squeek, and I worry that they may break at some point. Oh, and getting the filters in and out is harder than it looks. OTOH, I love the drawer temperature selections. Word of warning: The dispenser is the weakest part of any unit, and the ice maker is second. You might look into the merits of the two models on that level as a decision point besides price. I have no information about it on these particular units, however. Whichever you choose will be excellent. Enjoy!...See MoreSub-Zero vs Bosch Refrigerator Freezer Columms
Comments (3)We have Sub Zero refrigerator and freezer. Only buy it if you like the look it does NOT work any better than any other refrigerator. The freezer still allows items to become icy from freeze/thaw cycles. The ice cubes melt together within a couple weeks after completely cleaning out and starting new. The magical refrigerator that is supposed to keep perfect temperature so food stays fresh longer - no, it’s just a regular refrigerator. We do have Bosch dish washer which is very quiet, we don’t even know it’s on....See Morem111675
