I don't ever have to have it again....never. But it might work for a joke meal....I have a bottle of Mad Dog 20-20 stashed for just that sort of thing.

Hmmm - if I was in the middle of a hurricane and needed a salt fix I'd fry it up. Haven't had it in many years. Or corned beef in a can. Remember them both fondly...

Boy! I wish I'd seen something like that before hubby bought several cans (Hell, he grew up in Scotland in the 60s!) Still have a couple in the pantry!

Maybe I'll go on vacation and he can finish up all the spam, cheese, burritos and stuff that I no longer eat and I'll take him into a cardiologist when I get back!

Well, the thing is, people are getting older. A can is 6 servings, for a senior single person.

In addition to the growth in frozen entrees, expect to see single serving protein in vac pak. Tuna was among the first. There are many people out there who waste food because it is packaged in quantities greater than they can eat.

eta: canned sardines were before vac fish, and canned cat food has also be consumed by people.

I find it offensive to make fun of products for those who may not be able to utilize a larger portion. Do you make fun of people who buy single use laundry detergent at a laundromat because they are unable to purchase a larger size?

Please post a picture of a quart of milk, which may cost half as much as a gallon, but not everyone can afford the gallon.

Jim Mat: I do not see the original post, nor any posts following, as making fun or light of anyone not being able to afford foods. To elaborate on your comment, if you are a bargain shopper, and I am, you know that buying in bulk as opposed to buy in single serving saves money. The Single Serve Spam is .99 for 3 oz. An entire can of Spam at 12 oz. is $2.79 (at the same store). That’s a savings of $1.17. Spam is small, and I’m sure most people have a freezer which would hold individually cut slices of spam upon opening the can. Not all foods can be frozen easily, but for what it’s worth, milk can be frozen by placing it in zip-lock baggies and freezing them flat, taking up little room – I know because I used to be a single person who did this to save money. It can then be thawed in the fridge for cooking. Not sure about drinking. I think your comment is off mark.

I admit I like the taste of fried spam on rare occasion - I’m aware it has to do with warm family memories, and perhaps someday I’ll fry some spam to go with waffles and eggs : ) I’m also aware just how bad it is for the arteries!

Hormel is gonna make millions off people like me, who want just a taste to get craving out of their systems. In fact, I pay $1 for one tiny piece of candy. That little bit of a “fix” keeps me from buying a bag. One can be economical w/money or economical with calories, hopefully both.

Is that a shelf-stable package (like tuna)? If so, sign me up. I'm a backpacker and always on the lookout for shelf-stable packaged foods, especially protein options, because they're relatively light weight and mix up the typically tedious backpacking diet a bit. I'm not a big fan of Spam, but ate it fried with eggs camping as a kid and I'd rather it eat than canned tuna which I loathe (yes, I know that's not a reasonable food aversion, but it's my one big food aversion nonetheless).

You have to know that these type of 'convenience' products in single serving sizes, etc. tend to cost more than the regular ones. Many stores now show you the cost per ounce/unit so you can compare.

So I'm an oddball. I love to fry up a couple of slices of Spam every so often to eat with potatoes and green beans. My grandmother always fixed that for me. I will have to add a pack or two of it to my disaster bag. Right now I have salmon and tuna in foil packets in there.

2ManyDiversions...re the milk, thanks for the great idea! I can't even get through one of those child-sized milk cartons (6 or is it 8 ounces) before it goes bad!
