Color suggestions for white bedroom furniture
Comments (10)Guys....THANKS SO MUCH for your responses and beautiful pictures! SusieQ...Love your color scheme...the room does indeed look cosy and well put together. Oceanna.. the pics you posted were beautiful....they really inspired me! I think I am leaning towards the cream/red combo for warmth...thinking something like creams/chocolates with red accents.....However, I also love blues/creams too. I may have to paint the walls again to achieve that desired look...it just seems that kilim beige is TOO neutral, and I am not sure what kind of undertones it is giving off. I have a sage/cream comforter in there right now....with green and chocolate accent decor but it just does not seem to 'jiving' with the kilim beige and white furniture....See MoreBesides bed, what is in your Master bedroom?
Comments (46)In re my points about no TV in the MBR 1. I've read that for maximum restfulness, the BR should be used only for sleeping and, not sleeping. I think that makes sense and try to adhere to it. 2. We have a no-TV-no-tech lakehouse and we found that when we stayed there we talked more, read more, and slept more. All things I value 3. Human nature is "path of least resistance". I try to configure my house to encourage behaviors I value most. 4. I personally have a very high sloth quotient. I could easily while away much of a sunny spring day watching really bad TV, like "The Learning Channel". When I am away, my DH has been known to stay up till odd hours watching old PBS documentaries. 5. That said, I forgot about news in the morning. I am now in the habit of going into my office to check the web for news and weather. I miss all of the morning news nonsense and popular culture though! 6. We need the Daily Show, daily, and it's followup. I really miss that at the lake. In re seating areas 1. In this home and the last, we never sat in the MBR. I still don't get that (though I love the lunch date someone described!). If our kids are up, I would want to be near them. If they are asleep, I would probably want to enjoy my house in solitude! 2. That said, right now there are 2 chairs and a settee in my MBR. Frankly more as storage than anything else....See MoreBedding/drape options for bedroom - Pics
Comments (20)Glad you returned the curtains, because I LOVE the paisley bedding, but the curtains were a disconnect. Honestly, I would replace the dark shades on the lamps. I love the shape, but I think the dark grey just disappears against the paint color, and also is less effective lighting. White ones would really help the lamps be more important visually. I would not fold the paisley bedding down and have mostly white bedding. Your room is all solids, the paisley makes the bed a focal point. I would turn the sham on the right so that the pattern matches the direction of the rest of the bedding. I would also lose the piece over the bed - it just doesn't feel like it works with the rest of the design. A fresh feeling landscape with lots of the green tones would be nice, and add to the restful feeling of the space. I would get an interesting grey pillow of some sort to put on the green chair. Take the grey throw off the bed, as it really doesn't feel large enough to add anything, and perhaps put that over one arm of the chair. Add a smaller pewter bowl filled with granny smith green apples or green hydrangea on one of the nightstands, and find a new home for the white framed pix. I would get thinner, silver frames and do those and the other two on the wall by the chair in a grouping....See MoreNow I need help with window treatment for master bedroom
Comments (8)One of the 5 windows in my office has its right drape panel a bit behind a secretary desk in here. It doesn't bother me, but you may feel otherwise. My roller shades block the sun and gives me total privacy if I choose to close them at night. My shades cover the full glass part of my windows, but not the outside trim. My windows are standard double hung, and yours appear to be sliding windows. If you do get shades, no matter what material type, and close them at night (just an assumption on my part) wouldn't you need to raise them in order to open the window if you choose to? Would that bug you at all? I may be prejudiced toward drapes, as I make them myself and love fabrics, so change them more often than others might. Here is a pic that I found online with a window similar to yours that may help you decide....See MoreCelery. Visualization, Rendering images
