Huge framed maps...
Comments (14)I showed DH the map from the RH web site and he said something along the lines of "Yes, yes, order it immediately!" Well, first of all, I think the price is steep, and secondly, it wouldn't fit in our room. I ended up buying a map of Paris (we love Paris) on ebay this morning for $34, thinking for that price I could use it anywhere. But the map from ebay is black & white, and I think I'd prefer something with some color in the LR. I like the retro colors of this US map (link below), but not sure if this may make the LR look like a classroom! We travel quite a bit, and we happen to have a small collection of old globes on our TV stand, so for me, I feel it is entirely appropriate to have a map in my LR. (p.s. Our LR is really more like a FR.) I think anything hung on the wall, whether it's a painting or a map, is a highly personal decision. So I guess what I'm saying is not "should I?" but rather "can you help me find a good one?" LOL...hope that makes sense. Here is a link that might be useful: Map...See MorePlease help---How to arrange photos on wall behind couch
Comments (14)I'm not sure you can frame them in a way that they will have enough presence behind the couch - the scale might be off even with four of them, but a pro can help figure that out at a frame shop. Also, if your budget allows, I think I would get one more of either the orange hued or blue hued pics and just do 3 across behind the couch (assuming they can be framed to make them large enough). The mixture of the pics doesn't work in my opinion; 2 of each just looks too disparate. Then put the other two somewhere else. Maybe 2 more of each color could work and do a row of 3 of each color, one above the other would work, but not sure. I just think 4 is an awkward number, esp of pics that aren't closely related. Or maybe look for a black and white something for in the middle, much larger and flank it with the pics you have (esp if framed in black). Comments (43)You had a lot of wasted space the other way as well, truly you should add a chair to the other side. Because this looks amazing. you could make the chaise side longer now. The arcade games feel like part of the flow rather than baby in the corner. the room is rounded out. Dont be discouraged. lets see what some others think, i think its a vast improvement and seems much more cozy and inviting than before....See MoreArt, Photos, how to arrange? Where to hang?
Comments (13)I agree @calidesign...that was our intention, so we’re trying figure out how to hang a couple of large custom portraits of our kids when they were a few weeks old in the stairwell. They are incredibly heavy and we live in earthquake country. Not sure what kind of pro to hire to hang! Maybe I’ll see how much it would cost to reframe them. Working on the window coverings, but we’d keep the windows facing the dining wall open most of the time anyway because of the view. It’s north facing and today is pretty gray and rainy, so there’s more reflection than normal, I think. Thanks...See MoreUser
