The tv is like that because the couch is a a sectional sofa and we think it would be difficult to view the tv if it was in the middle and you were seated in the 2 left seats closest to the tv...

although you are right.... if we could maybe pull the couch back or something so those seats could see ok that would help with decorating the wall.... it would take up a huge chunk for me!

Yes, to Beverly's suggestion. The current placement of the tv is awkward.

Cornering furniture eats up floor space. In a TV room the TV has to be the central focal point. Try placing the sectional in a "V" in front of the TV centered on the big wall.

Since you have a corner sectional and your tv directly across from it, consider changing the color of the wall or even adding paneling to it to make it an accent wall. Then you could put a tall, wide, open shelving unit there to be decorated with what you put on the shelves depending upon your personal interests an tastes and your mood and the season.

I like Beverly's idea. Another one is to get some console and wall art above or photo gallery.

ok, so what you need to do is pull that sofa off the wall, there is no reason to keep baby in the corner in either case of the TV or the sofa. Its a big room and your loading up all the out side walls. the long side of the sofa should actually have its back to the room you are taking the picture from. the tv get centered on the large back wall. you will still have room on both sides to enter the area, then you can add a sofa table behind the sectional and even ad a chair to the window side of the room. It looks like you have a dining table in there is that true?

When possible wall mount the tv and get a long narrow tv console.

I Put the tv in the middle of the wall and moved the couch towards the middle more. i made the side of the couch along the wall shorter because if that chase is any closer its going to be awkward to sit there and watch tv. I moved the table on the right up closer too. what do u think?

what i would do is make it so the chaise is facing the tv and the long side is to the dining table wall.

We call this room our 'game room'... my husband likes having a round table in the room for poker night and its a place for our kids to eat while watching tv. the room behind this game room is our laundry room which then connects to our dining room. i moved the couch again. check it out now. what do you think?

although the tv in the middle solves the problem of a huge blank wall, seems like a lot of wasted space in the room.... there is a lot of unusable space on the one side (pic below) and behind the couch when entering the room.. i'm wondering if my original position was the best after all....

You had a lot of wasted space the other way as well, truly you should add a chair to the other side. Because this looks amazing. you could make the chaise side longer now.

The arcade games feel like part of the flow rather than baby in the corner. the room is rounded out.

Dont be discouraged. lets see what some others think, i think its a vast improvement and seems much more cozy and inviting than before.

I like the new arrangement better, it's not wasted space...it's room to move around :) Since this is your FUN room , I would add an eye catching colorful wall mural on the back wall!

If that is the entry door; the couch isn't welcoming:/ The couch should be closer to tv. Can couch be 2 half circles? Or on other side of room. Table to other window or near door.

i know what you mean about the couch should be closer to the tv.... but, then it makes the closest seat too close to the tv. i think we may have bought the wrong couch for the room but there's nothing i can do about that now. :-(

Flip it back the other way, I think you will feel better about it, but keep it floating the way you have it now. It might help you to get some art work. Question, could we look at painting the room?

Yes! thats an antique desk that we like but could put it elsewhere probably

I'd start there, it will feel a whole lot more like an actual room if the TV gets off the desk, and then once that is set you can start to see the room develop. I would also think about new curtains, and then so large scale art work. Is that the front door or the back door?
