Wow! I love the rug and the china cabinet. The colors of the cabs are fantastic and the warmth of the wood countertop is luscious. It looks so clean, warm and has some amazing unexpected elements. She did a great job!!! I am sure she gets her talents from her amazing mom!

You might look at a warmer gray such as SW Agreeable Gray or Worldly Gray. Both look as though they could work with your roof. I agree with painting the belly band and corner beads, as well as the garage door and window trim, the same color. Then find a nice warm off white for soffits, fascia, and the windows themselves. I would remove the large bush on the right side by the entry to open it up a bit. If possible, I would also remove the tree. It blocks your entry and is very close to the house. I would worry about root damage to the foundation. If possible, I would switch to a full glass storm door and find a pretty color to paint it and the front door. You might also consider adding coach lights on either side of the garage along with large house numbers on the right of the garage by the entry to draw attention to the front door area. I would also pull the bush on the right of the garage doors and replace it with an urn planted with seasonal plantings. It would add height and draw attention to your front porch area.

The kitchens and baths in these buildings, no matter how nice the building is, rarely seem to get substantially updated and I think that it is because it is such a hassle first, then the relative expense. Plus most of the Inter-war buildings seem to have bathrooms that are as sturdy as bomb shelters. People in Manhattan seem to not cook much. We know someone who had the gas to their stove turned off and they use the oven for storage and have covered over the burners. They have lived in a tiny studio for many years. One of my friends sublet a new law tenement style apartment (it was actually 1BR) and the bathtub was still in the kitchen with a folding door on top. It had been converted to a shower, and I had to use a step ladder to get into it. Originally the toilets were accessed by the hallway outside. With few exceptions it was at a point where each apartment had its own toilet. In this particular apartment they had just cut a hole in the bedroom wall to access their toilet. The old door to the toilet was still there on the hall side.

The siding is vinyl so I don't think we can paint it. It might be hard to tell from the picture but the brick is a slightly off-white color. I don't like the bush under the window but think removing it would make the windows look even smaller. The steps are concrete with carpet that is peeling off so I think we are going to remove the carpet and either put decking or some sort or pavers or outdoor tile over them. I think the piller needs to be updated to a square design as well. We definitely want to replace the door and it is ugly and drafty. We eventually plan to do an addition over the garage so at that point I think we'll update the siding and windows as well. I'm thinking about making the addition roof to be pitched the other way so the "A" pitch faces the road. Then maybe redo the portico so that this also has an "A" pitch facing the street to tie in the addition. I think this will help give the house some dimension. It's just so plain and flat right now.
