Comments (18)Funny, funkyart, my house is a 1960's colonial...but I always wanted that old farmhouse. So we ripped out all (ALL) the wimpy moulding and baseboards throughout the house and replaced it with wide/substantial trim, Added hardwood throughout, and did everything we could to revamp the style. It's more of a colonial revival look throughout---with schoolhouse pendants, pedestal sink in the 1/2 bath etc. I bet you could make this work in your room too! I will post some pictures of the inside of the closet tonight so you can get a better idea of how big, and the layout etc. Pretty much, it is a wide reach-in. Not quite walk in closet, although it is big enough to walk into etc. just not to hang clothing on both sides. The entire closet is open, but closed off by the 3 sets of doors. 2 sets of the doors hold my clothes, and dh has one. Shoe cubbies fit on both ends (which may be may favorite part of the whole thing---Dh built them to fit shoes and purses.) The closet system is from Lowes, and I highly recommend it. You can customize it however you like and it really looks more $ than it is. We had priced out California Closets, and their bottom of the line style was almost triple the cost of these... and these are much nicer looking. If you can DIY, they are the way to go. Comments (16)I've added pink to our bedroom but it's subtle enough not to be girly. The first thing I'd do is find a lightweight quilt with pink in it to fold at the end of the bed and work from there. It's amazing what one folded blanket with color can do for a whole room when it's on the end of a bed to match accessories with. Any pink can be sophisticated depending on how much you use of certain shades. The good thing is all shades of pink goes well together so you don't have to be limited on one shade. You could go a bit funky like me and get a pink Princess telephone for your side of the bed. I also have a deep pink Moon Clock. :)...See MoreHow to make a navy blue bedroom more feminine
Comments (71)DkHaas--I REALLY like those blue ombre curtains! Much softer but same idea as the bold navy/white stripe. And of course, mdln, I am not going to go out and buy what I want without consulting her! I probably won't show her this whole thread, mostly because I can't buy/replicate every thing that is on it, but I will DEFINITELY show her some of the ideas/color combos that have been presented! She has already seen some of the ideas--some of which she said, "NO WAY" to and some she was more into. She's pretty head strong--she knows what she likes and dislikes. lol We are both putting this room together, but I am the one paying for it, and with that comes "some say" within reason. :) HavingFun, you are right--I would not have thought to look on Amazon unless I knew something specific I wanted. I am glad to hear you say that the quality is not bad--that is something I would have been worried about....See Morehelp designing a garage/bedroom side addition for split entry home
Comments (13)Would you husband be opposed to a tandem garage? With a good architect and builder and of course $$$ you could build on and have a side facing garage. The garage would still fit 4 cars, but just tandem through the new garage into the old garage. They can fill in the current garage door and make it look like it is part of the house and not just a filled in garage door. Remove the old driveway and re-landscape. And your house would not look like all garage....See MoreV Smith
