Best way to waterproof seam between floor tile and shower pan
Comments (4)If you're looking to waterproof the floor, run the Ditra up to the shower pan, and cut it nice and uniform, leaving about an 1/8" gap, and then caulk it. Also, pick up a roll of Kerdiband to seal up the seams in the Ditra....See MoreHow to best use space in laundry room? (pictures included)
Comments (10)Hailefinn brings up a point I hadn't thought of yet. I knew that DW would have to stretch to use the dryer controls if stacked (at least one stackable unit has the dryer controls on the bottom, but that limits us to a single model or small subset of models). Since setting the controls is pretty quick and easy I thought stretching or a small step stool might work for that. What we haven't yet tried is reaching in to the back of the dryer cavity. That might be difficult and standing on a step stool while pulling out clothes or stepping on and off could be dangerous. It looks like we may have to do the units side by side. About the sink: There's a bathroom about 3 feet from the potential laundry area. Is a sink still worth it?...See MoreWaterproofing a pre-existing laundry room
Comments (2)You'd probably do better posting this in the remodeling or home repair forum. I'm wondering, though, about how your floor is sloped. Will spilled water run away from the inside walls?...See Morelaundry room upstairs?
Comments (12)While the examples of the laundry set up posted by @dazureus is lovely, I would want that shutoff valve above the counter, or in the sink cabinet. The way it is set up now, you have to pull out the washer to shut it off. I shut mine off when I'm not using the set and turn it on only on the days I do laundry. I have another laundry area that I turn off when we leave for several days, but it is a little harder to get too, or I'd shut it off most of the time. The wall dryer vent is only accessed with removing the dryer from its spot, another difficult situation, unless there is another access point in the wall behind the dryer. Dryer vents need cleaning regularly....See MoreHelen
