What shower Shower & Bathtub Trim Kit do you recommend. It's hard.

I've looked at this: Kohler's Bancroft set in chrome. Main reason I picked it was there were so many funky designs at the Kohler store in my area, this one was the only one that stood out.

I do love this but not sure about faucet design

It's so hard to find reviews, designs, etc... and get everything right.

First, the trim kit must match the valve in both brand and output. Your designer should be walking you through this.

That alcove is designed to house a tub only, not a tub shower unit. You can't "repurpose" what's there without water damage to your floor, window, and behind your walls. The tub itself not designed to be used that way, and neither is the window designed to be in a wet area. You'd need to rip it all out and start over by installing a smaller and waterproof window, then installing a tub that had an integral tile flange which is part of the waterproofing system needed. Then your waterproofing membrane and whatever wall cladding you might want.

In the Baths forum, I asked about replacing mine, and got these recommendations: Symmons, Wolverine, and Callifornia faucets. We decided to go ahead and get the one fixture up on the wall and are doing away with the three knob configuration. But, it was a lot more money to do this than just get new ones.

Delta and Moen are almost interchangeable in terms of warranty and service. Both offer lifetime warranties on the parts. I'm not sure about Moen but Delta also offers a lifetime warranty on their finishes. If your finish has changed you might want to contact Delta and see if those parts would be covered under warranty. Of course it'd still be a hassle to uninstall and reinstall so if the finish is still fine no need to do anything. We have a lot of experience selling Delta Shower Faucets. You can read our article which will teach you everything you wanted to know (and probably more) about Delta Showers here. In regards to the plastic elements, we get asked about that a lot. We are an authorized Delta reseller and many people ask us about whether or not the shower faucets we sell are metal or plastic. The answer is, usually there's a mixture. Some Delta Showers are all metal, others are a combination of metal and plastic. It simply depends on what shape and style they are going for and how the engineers decided how best to fabricate the part. That being said, keep in mind that even the plastic parts made by Delta have a lifetime warranty. You can literally call them up and they will replace a part that is no longer working. I don't think there's nearly as much to worry about regarding plastic parts as people think. Especially if those parts are backed by a huge company like Delta Faucet with a lifetime warranty. Additionally, people don't always think about the reason plastic has been chosen. In the case of a handheld shower, often plastic is the material of choice because of thermal transfer issues. Metal heats up. If you hold hot metal in your hand it's not so comfortable. Plus, it's possible the hand shower would slip out of your hand and you would drop it. If it's plastic, it's very unlikely to damage your tile or hurt you in any way. If it's heavy and made of metal this may not be the case.

Every time I have went to a store to talk to designers they follow up with large numbers on the project. Astronomical. I am fine without a designer as we aren't changing the layout of the room and my wife and I are very comfortable with our "design" decisions.

Patricial Colwell Consulting I like the "Moen Align" shower head and handle but very much dislike the faucet. I would say I'm a mixture between traditional and modern; That said I am looking more at other Kohler products now like "alteo" and "refinia" as I think "Bancroft" isn't my style. The reason I had first leaned "Bancroft" was because I thought many of the designs at my local Kohler store were definitely not my taste.

The trim kit is useless without the right valve in the wall. It’s not interchangeable either. Koehler fits Kohlet valves and Delta fits Delta valves.

What the right valve is, depends on your needs. A simple tub shower is usually under $500 for everything in chrome, in a basic style. Start adding fixtures that need multiple output ports, or going into specialty finishes like brushed brass, and the valves and trim both change. And you can have 2K in shower plumbing in a heartbeat.

If you are getting large numbers, then it’s your requirements to do what you want that are driving the numbers. You contro the pricing by cutting back on the features and finishes.

Sophie thanks for comment. Of course I wouldn’t mix values.

We are installing a kohler air tub, onyx collection subway tile design walls (white) to ceiling with crown moulding, and Kohler Refinia bath / shower trim.

I had some home builders want $10,000 to install (separate from product cost) and other reputable companies less than half. Not always about what is done of course but sometimes yes ;-)
