Painted Living Room Wilmington Tan-Ready for Next Step
Comments (131)squirrel: I like the one with the red lampshade. I will keep these as my inspiration pictures as I continue to work on this room. You've helped immensely! kmcg: Love all those pics you posted and they have given me lots of ideas. bungalo_house: I think I need to get some more pieces to fill out the corners to make it work. Once the crown is done I can play around a bit more--as is, I move everything then the trim guy moves it all out of his way. If anyone can find me the lyre/harp table that would make my day (and not on eBay as I'm not going to pay an arm-and-a-leg for shipping on something sight unseen after my chair fiasco). You've got me working back in that direction. I think I'm just going to start calling all the antique stores in the area. BTW: anyone like this floor lamp (with a red shade) better? Here is a link that might be useful: Craigslist floor lamp...See MoreHow to take this to the next level
Comments (3)How you decorate the lamp would really depend on the room it was going into. If you could give us an idea on where it will be used and the colors/decorating theme it might help a bit. But a couple ideas I have would be to add some more color with paint. Or do a crackle finish on the base. You could also add some mosaic work (tiles, flat marbles, broken china) ... or glue on some jute/rope/ribbon where the bands are. Another idea would be to decoupage something on. You can even use the Wallies or create your own cutouts to match the wallpaper in your room. Good luck! Joyce...See MoreHelp me bring this house up to the next level please.
Comments (17)Thanks so much everyone for the insight that was given on this post, I really appreciate you all taking the time to help me out! It's great to 'see' this thing through fresh eyes. All of the posts have been really helpful pointing out the issues with the house, door, shutters, plants, etc. I'm going to sit down with my DH tonight and talk to him about how we want to proceed from here to correct the problems. The roof will probably take two more steady weekends of work, so I have a little play time to make a decision and look further for a door replacement. I think that I'll remove the shutters this weekend too and look for door before I make any type of decision new ones. Johnatemp, that door is just beautiful! Cameron, Isn't the rain wonderful? :) Of course we had to laugh since it hasn't rained here in three month, but we strip the roof and here comes the monsoons! *LOL* I hope it's helping with the water level in the reservoirs. I know that our plants and lawn have certainly perked up, the lawn was all but dead and I was starting to wonder if we'd lose our weeping willow. We live West of you, a little South of Winston Salem. The last past two days here have been a good steady rain, I hope you all in Chapel Hill are getting a good soaking too!! :)...See Moretaking space from a kitchen and living room to add a powder room
