Hey, Lizabeth... for whatever it's worth, here's a picture of the side of our 1916 foursquare. Most of our windows are 4x4 over 1, but we have several smaller windows on the lower floor of the north side that are 4x3 over 1. The bathroom window is the lowest of all the windows on that side... We keep a cafe curtain covering the lower pane and one of the three rows of upper panes, but leave the upper two rows open (privacy is not compromised in the bathroom) to let in natural light. It would feel like a closet in there otherwise, as it's very small. Wish I had a more direct picture, but this is all we have on hand... but hopefully you can see how the fact that the smaller windows (4x3 on top) being the same width as the others (all 4x4 on top) minimizes the fact that the windows are a bit shorter (and therefore squattier) than the rest of the windows on that side of the house. Not sure if this will help your decision process or not, but there you go!

Thanks for the kind words, Moni. For all I share this tale: In my previous old house there was no first floor bathroom, and we had an aging parent living with us. We decided to use a closet in the kitchen for a half bath. Sure, it was out of the main food prep area, but it still bugged me that there was a windowless room in the kitchen with a toilet in it (oh, we also carved out space in there for a stack W&D and possibly the tiniest sink, EVER). When we put that house up for sale (we had finished the restoration and I was bored) about 95% of the potential buyers remarked negatively about the position of the bath in the kitchen. Our options, including time, were severely limited, but we could have thought just a little more carefully about how to enter the half-bath, and flipped the door to it so you enter from the foyer, which was where the back wall of the kitchen closet was. I guess we just didnt think about that. My message is this: rather than do it fast and use whats already there, think carefully about adding a bath in a kitchen. In our case if we had been less anxious to get it done we could have been better able to sell the house faster and for a higher price.

Oh, this! ^^^^^^ That looks lovely. I don't think it needs to be centered. That looks great. As an alternative, you could build a hood that covers that entire short wall and then just place the working parts (fan, ducts) over the range. That may look better or worse but something you might play with. A lot of the kitchens revealed here have lack of symmetry because they achieve better function without it. Or they find a creative way to balance the lack of symmetry as you have with your utensil crock. A tall, narrow painting would look good there as well if you decide to go with a simpler backsplash although that might be too-too much on the wall if you go with a decorative tile-insert. I'm a window person. Even if the view is questionable, I'd go for bigger windows. The more natural light, the better, imho. Maybe install some kind of trellis to hide the hot-tubbers? For the first time in my life, I have no uppers and my seasonings/oils/sauces are in drawers next to my range. I just bought a couple of cheap spice inserts at the hardware store and a few cheap drawer organizers (plastic boxes) at The Dollar Store. Oh, I love it so much. I can open the drawers and find everything I need at a glance rather than digging through the upper cabinet. As I said, my fridge placement doesn't bother me either due to the pit-stop at the prep area. I hope you find the same with your mock cooking sessions. I like this plan so much better than how it originally started. I hope you feel good about what you've achieved.

A generic question about a 80K project with no diagrams, pictures, or anything is not likely to get any input. Other than you will never get any return on that expens. Powder rooms are expected to be small and losing space in a kitchen is an BIG negative.
