A green-grey paint color on the stucco could be very pretty. Possibly darker trim color. The upstairs windows are such a nice shape they deserve to be called out.

I agree about the gray green it is always a nice color with brick. If the money was no object I would do siding instead of the stucco I love the upstairs windows on the front so don’t touch them.

Oh, the stucco is so fine with that style. Such a handsome house, and the windows in the front make it special! Grey-green, creamy-white trim. Not sure what to do about the lattice at the back steps. When you park the car, do you go through the gate, then up the steps?

On the front walk, do you need the railing? Could it be moved to the concrete edge alongside the steps? That would seem to make more sense. And, can you add a walkway from the bottom of the stoop to the driveway?

I like the top windows - they look worried!

A pale to medium grey-green or grey-blue would make the windows stand out more. Don't go dark or it will lose the detailing.

@lazy_gardens would you say those colors for the trim only or for the stucco?

Jacqbev, if you choose the sage green light as in your photo above, consider a trim color that is paler than the green. Look at lighter shades of the same color or a soft gray blue, or one of the lightest tones from your brick.

Please don't muddle the house by putting on crappy siding. The house obviously always had stucco and it should stay. The thing is to pick out the details.

Actually I think the color is perfect. It's a craftsman house and the color highlights the fact. I love the stucco in a gray green color. The trim color should not be white as white was not a color used back in 1915. Instead it should be more of a cream color. Then I'd use a dark red/burgandy color to pick out the window mullions and the knee braces too. If you do that, I think it would bring back the charm of the house.

Stick with stucco. We had a home very similar to yours in front and on the sides. In the early 1980s a neighbor's tree fell onto the side of the house, damaging the siding but not the structure of the house. There was stucco under the siding! Instead of residing that side of the house, we had the siding removed from the whole house and the stucco repaired where it needed it, and I painted it myself.

Our brick was similar to yours. We painted the stucco cream, the trim a pale sage green. It was transformed into the most beautiful house on the block. I have no recollection of paint color names, but I know it was Sherwin Williams because I well remember how patient and helpful Shirley was in helping us select colors. Stick with the stucco!

Great, solid brick bungalow! Don't change the stucco - it was done "back in the day" and will last forever if kept in good repair. Pay particular attention to the "flashing" (where the roof meets the stucco walls) because that's where water damage starts. Whatever shade of paint you choose (I'd suggest something "muddy" rather than bright) please keep the corbels and window trim "white-ish" so they stand out. Love your dog & Hostas, beautiful lawn.

I would go with a browner, mossier green to better harmonize with the brown of the brick + cream trim.

Also research mineral paints - limeworks and Keim USA are 2 US based sources. These bond to the masonry (whether stone, concrete, stucco, etc) as opposed to being a paint film that sits on top of the surface - and are breathable (necessary to prevent moisture damage). Ive been told that the colors are more lively and beautiful, due to it being actual mineral pigment vs. chemical colorant. Cost - very reasonable, about what a medium-high end paint would cost. Only down side may be trying to find a painter. Just perservere- I found that while some I talked to looked at me like I had two heads, others were fascinated and eager to learn

What others said about repair - get someone on that now before painting. And then youre good for another 100 yrs!

Wood shakes would be a majorly expensive and unnecessary job that would probably end up waaayyy down on the priority list. Roof looks kinda old, fer instance. That might be the place to put some $ and get a shingle thing going on - either real wood or I have seen some fake shake roofs that dont look half bad, pretty convincing.

The stucco is fine and will outlast shakes, shingles, lap siding, etc. I had a 1927 house that was similar with original stucco. It still looks good almost 100 years later.
