Craftsman Bungalow Stucco and Stacked Stone
Comments (4)You have a lovely bungalow. As others have said, the stone is inappropriate for your house. In the short term, I'd focus on installing a period-appropriate front door -- the one shown by houssaon is perfect -- and repairing and painting the stucco. Any color in the Sherwin-Williams Arts and Crafts Historic Color Collection would be appropriate when you paint. You might check out the book Bungalow Colors: Exteriors for ideas. Down the road, if it's in the budget, I'd consider replacing the windows with Arts and Crafts style windows with true divided lites. I highly recommend the book Bungalow Details: Exterior to guide you in your efforts....See MoreSuggestions for stucco & wood trim exterior paint color
Comments (5)Keep the faux timber details on your home they add interest and texture. Here are some homes with stone that is similar to yours. I think your home could benefit from contrasting paint trim around the windows & perhaps actual wood for the 'timbers' on your stucco. Any paint colors should be pulled from the colors in your stone except for the bronze for the windows. I think your home could look much better with upgraded garage doors like you see below....See Morestucco mould vs door trim on exterior entry
Comments (1)Jamie, you can make a nice surround using composite material and trim which is very easy to do nowadays and you have a large profile selection available, or you can use stucco mold just make sure they use finish for "traffic area" being this a doorway which is more durable... The con with stucco is if it gets damaged it's much harder to repair and match the color in comparison to replacing a piece of trim. Good luck with your new home!...See MoreColor for: front door, railing, pergola, trim around windows, stucco
Comments (12)Correct, Hallet & Co., those are the areas that can be painted. To clarify, you are suggesting to paint all trim, corner boards and pergola white. We are keeping the entry path as concrete, but adding a flagstone path through the "garden" to the side gate. It is a darker flagstone. You are suggesting darker stucco in the same family of SW Kilim Beige (putty color) to ground the house? Do you agree garage door should be same color as the stucco? I'll look into taking the knuckles off of the railing. What "look" would you say you are you going for overall? Thank you!...See MoreJilly
