stucco mould vs door trim on exterior entry

Hello,

We are about to replace our front door but aren’t sure if should use stucco mould or just trim around the door. We are repairing the stucco around our whole house so if it gets damaged while replacing the door, it’s ok. Does anyone suggest one over the other? We are looking for something 2.5 in in width since our door is up against a corner and we do not have enough room to make the trim wider on that side. All insight is helpful since no installer has been very helpful on what’s the right thing to do.

Attached are some photos of our current situation, the privacy screen will be removed.

Jamie, you can make a nice surround using composite material and trim which is very easy to do nowadays and you have a large profile selection available, or you can use stucco mold just make sure they use finish for "traffic area" being this a doorway which is more durable...

The con with stucco is if it gets damaged it's much harder to repair and match the color in comparison to replacing a piece of trim.

Long shot rewarded. I'm just barely active. We went with the Marvin door, primarily because there were no examples of the MAi to see in our area. The trim on the first door delivered was out of wack (our carpenter spotted it immediately; I probably wouldn't have noticed for months if not years) so Marvin sent out a replacement posthaste. I think it's a very nice door and am happy with our selection. Suggest you check in with me again in, say, nine years to see how it's performing. :) I wish I could provide more help than that. You should be able to find a pre-hung exterior door with an aluminum-clad jamb and moulding from any local millwork dealer or building supply. That would be my choice over any composite as it is much more stable and no more painting.

So here's a follow up question. Per the recommendations and after seeing a visual, we have changed everything to.. * 8' Doors + 4.25" Casing / Trim (Interior and Exterior) * 6' Windows Throughout @ 8' Header Height + 4.25" Casing / Trim ...with the following window exceptions.... * Window over freestanding tub. Don't want the window to fall behind tub (Height 25") , so thinking 5' Window @ 8' Header Height + 4.25" Casing / Trim * (2) Windows on each side of the king size bed. Don't want them to fall behind the nightstands, so thinking 5' window @ 8' Header Height + 4.25" Casing / Trim * Guest Bath smaller window @ 8' Header Height + 4.25" Casing / Trim....not sure what size?? ...Does this make sense? Thoughts? Thanks everyone!

If anyone can help I would be grateful! I really need to make a decision this weekend if possible. I know I need to do samples but would appreciate any direction on which SW whites to look at. I want it to be soft and warm/inviting and wouldn't even mind a cream if I can find on that still looks like a creamy white rather than yellow. Thoughts? Would SW Creamy work or go too yellow?
