Mid-Century Modern Rambler Ranch - circa 1955
Comments (4)-are you going to paint the desk, or love as is? asking to understand whether you love olive (or is it avocado?) green -would you rather paint the breakfront unless concern for authenticity? it might be added later. looks nice. '67 is still era of stained..at least as much as I know. Others here will know better. frankly I'd leave stained..even if I didn't like it..somebody lazy like me would just find the right knobs..if you love green-say something green..strong..geometric..or white..or white and green..and bigger than current one. I think it will look cool with bolder, bigger knobs. The current ones are too small, don't do it justice. (the knobs can be bold flowers too..or owls:) but your choice of the sectional suggests you like geometry more..am I right? I might be very easily wrong though) lots of knobs on Etsy. I even found several for you. but afraid to post it:) since I'm not sure of your preferences yet. and then I'd fill it with things I love and make it work another option-to try and change the stain if you actively dislike it. Hard to see what wood it is..if walnut I'd leave as is for sure. but I can't tell from the pics...See MoreLiving room design help for mid-century ranch
Comments (8)I see this languishing way down on the Design Dilemma queue. That's not good. There is something so wonderful about the light spaciousness of that room that I'd suggest you go for a very light grey -- I think cool will work better with the blue-green range of colours you are thinking of. White trim. I was thinking it might be best to decide on the fireplace when your furniture is in and the walls are painted, but I suspect carrying the wall cover over it will work best, because it really is a rather imposing chunk, isn't it? Not sure about the aqua ceiling .... I'd like to hear others' opinions about that....See MoreExterior paint help - Mid Century Modern Ranch
Comments (20)Thanks for all the suggestions. Off-white with a bright colored, mid century door was the direction I was leaning, so it sounds like I’m on the right track, @emmarene9, I think the small plants are boxwoods, but I am going to pull those out along with the stones and redo that bed with some more mid-century appropriate, Texas native landscaping - maybe grasses or succulents. And here’s a close up of the iron scrolling that you asked for (dirty and coated in that ugly green paint, but in good shape otherwise)....See MoreMid Century Ranch Makeover
Comments (12)Thank you @celerygirl! I reaaaly like the pavers 🤩 I think maybe since my house is a ranch but not at all mid century modern (I’ve been trying to research to understand the history of the style) that maybe I shouldn’t try to make it look so MCM but rather update the exterior in a way that just flows with the ranch style. Just hard to find examples of good looking ranch homes, it seems. I’m definitely out of my depth. Thank you for all your suggestions! I’m always open to more. I need to figure out how to use a photo editor like you have- I’m bad at just imagining it. :)...See MoreSarah
