Do you break your nails on bin/cup pulls?
Comments (9)Thanks everyone for telling me I needn't be worried about breaking my nails. And, kateskouros, my nails are pretty darn short, but when my hand slips on something, they tend to break easily down to the quick, which is painful. But, like I said, I am just extremely clumsy and tend to grab at things quickly, resulting in broken nails. I think it is the thought of grabbing something from underneath, rather than through the top of a handle that has me thinking I'll be always breaking them. What I should do is go to a kitchen showroom and try them out, maybe slathering my hands in hand lotion first :)...See MoreWhat color nail polish do you wear on your toes for summer?
Comments (41)Patti I find that the professional pedi last a very long time, many weeks so is really worth it, plus the massage and pampering are wonderful. I have never mastered the art of polish if I do it you would think a blindfolded chimpanzee did it.... it ain't pretty! The pros make it look so simple and easy and fast. I have been waiting for my broken toe nail to grow out before getting one but I donâÂÂt think I can wait until then. I have no idea how I managed to damage my big toe nail but I did, I hope it doesn't grow in all funky looking....See MoreDo you get your nails done?
Comments (54)No. This is just me, and I admit, I am odd. I have a very bad right hand....scarred from two childhood accidents...bad 3rd degree burns that more or less melted my hand, so I have never done anything to attract attention to my hand. Oddly, many people who have known me for years and never noticed it. However, even if it wasn't like that, I wouldn't have a manicure. That is something I can do myself. Same for pedicure....if I want my toenails painted, I can do that. And the real reason is, I don't like people I don't know touching me. Oh, I can get a haircut....I have to do that....but I want in and out as quickly as possible. I don't care how they cut it, just let me get the hell out of that chair. Now, you'd never know that...watching me. I can control my aversion. I am polite and chatty....I can act normal....but it isn't something I enjoy. Having a massage by someone I am not close to, for example....would never happen....See MoreBook review: How to Build Your Dream House Without Getting Nailed
Comments (1)Well...before one considers building, (or reading a book about building), one might beneficially want to understand and consider: --One's budget and appropriate contingency fund; --One's needs vs wants, and how the needs might be best organized and related to one another; --One's land or site, and how it will significantly affect how a house may be designed and constructed; --The design options, and how the design process works, for a home, on a specific site, for a specific budget, to address needs and as many wants as feasible; --The requirements, schedule and costs for required local jurisdictional approvals from start to finish of the project; --The options for competitive bidding versus a negotiated construction contract; --The various category of construction contracts, and how they can be written for either the owner's benefit, the builder's benefit, or a reasonable shared benefit. --How to understand and manage allowances (hint: zero allowances); --How to manage project close out and occupancy. If the book addressed all these, it's an exceptional book. If it didn't, keep looking for reference books! But chances are, there are few books which address all of these critical issues....See More- 8 years ago
