Advice needed on Electrolux washers/dryers
Comments (1)In the Laundry Forum the consensus seems to be that Electrolux is the best option now for 2nd floor applications if you are going with front loader. They have the best suspension system to isolate shakes. Consumer Reports bases their surveys on self-selected members who chose to reply. JD Power uses a random selection of phone numbers. It seems increasing numbers of Americans hang up on telemarketers, pollsters, and survey takers alike but JD seems more scientifically sound. JD ranks Samsung tops. If I were installing front washer on second floor I would go with Electrolux. Every washer has a fair number of bad reviews if you research enough. Even the laundry forum's beloved Miele. Miele no longer sells full size laundry units....See MoreDog Hair: Would this ruin a brand new Electrolux Washer/Dryer?
Comments (10)Nahhh...mistreating these machines would be if you put some bricks in there and ran it through a cycle...dog hair or cotton fuzz not so much. Buy the way...did you run your "Installation Cycle"? (Page 12 of the Installation Instruction Manual). You may want to (if you can) shake out heavily covered items with animal hair outside first so you don't have so much hair left in the machine (this is where classic high water level top loaders excel). As you play with your washer and learn how each cycle works (some cycles may use more water), you can use those cycles to wash the doggie items or heavy fuzzy items. I wish ALL front load washers had a "Water Plus" option to help with really dirty or "fuzzy" items to help wash/rinse these types of things away. I've written to Electrolux and they don't see the need for the added feature for additional water use....See MoreIs Electrolux 70 dryer better than 10-year-old Kenmore Elite dryer?
Comments (10)For every appliance I have ever owned, I have always bought Ext. Warranty. Sometimes I have needed it, and sometimes not. My Mom had 5 year Ext. warranties on her very expensive, top of the line GE washer & dryer. The dryer gave her a lot of problems about 4 years into ownership. After Sears/GE tried several repair attempts, they finally gave her all her money back and she bought a new dryer. Money WELL spent on an Ext. warranty! Years ago, I needed a substantial repair on a Miele oven. I believe they told me the repair was well oven $1000.00. My $249 Ext. warranty covered every cent of the service, labor and parts. ALWAYS think of Ext. warranties like car insurance. Most of the time you will never need it, but man when you do need it.....You are so darn happy you have it!! :) -Larsi...See MoreMiele 240v washer vs other 240v washers sold in U.S.?
Comments (16)@Weedmeister - In speaking with Miele customer service, I’ve actually learned that my washer is un-repairable. To replace the worn ball bearings require the ability to lift the drum out, which only a few repair shops can do, due to the weight and construction of the machine. In the past, people would actually ship their washers to Miele in New Jersey, but Miele is no longer doing that. So repairing the machine is not an option. I will look into the Bosch and the Asko Logic, as well as the newer Miele washers that don’t work on 240v, just to see if that might be a viable option....See More- 6 years ago
