Rutt cabinets vs. Dynasty/ Omega vs. Downsview?
Comments (6)mnhockeymom - When you say you ditched them and went custom, I presume you mean with someone local, not national chain or something? I think I recall you live in ... the midwest?? so that probably won't help me. But I have seen and love your kitchen, esp your thick marble which continues to inpsire me. I guess that makes me wonder if I should shop it around to local custom, presumably smaller outfits?? In truth, I have what I think is a workable quote from Dynasty/Omega (some pieces from each line depending on needs - thanks igloo - I am aware of the difference) and they seem to be able to provide what I need (at least at this early stage - granted not everything has been worked out/designed completely) and I'm not sure what it's worth to get pricing from these other lines which I feel confident will be more expensive (perhaps with the exception of Canyon Creek). Just wondering how much better they can be. Not building Trump Tower here, but also want quality that will last and look good. ahhh! Decisions, decisions....See MoreAre you happy with your Omega Dynasty cabinets?
Comments (16)I ordered the Omega Dynasty, with Shaker doors and slab-front drawers, installed January 2015. I chose Omega because I couldn't find any other cabinet with the Portobello color. Not even four years later I am regretting this decision. The cabinets look great, however, have several fatal flaws. The Shaker frame is not beveled. Therefore, water and moisture roll down the inset panel and collect in the frame, causing warping and bubbling of the painted finish. Even the flat-front drawers collect moisture, causing drip-size warps along the bottom. This is unacceptable. Even though we wipe the cabinets after cooking and washing dishes, kitchens are WET. Cabinets must be designed to withstand moisture. Furthermore, every edge of every cabinet door is showing chips and wear, exposing the wood under the paint. We don't have pets or small children, so there is not anything unusually intense about our use of the kitchen. The company (Masterbrand) is standing behind their cabinets and has replaced most of the affected drawer fronts and doors. However, the cabinet box frames are also showing considerable wear (even cracks in sink base frame), and those cannot be replaced. Again, this is unacceptable for a premium-priced product after less than four years of average use. Ironically, I purchased a less-expensive Masterbrand cabinet (Thomasville) from Home Depot for my master bathroom vanity. Also painted Shaker style, but with beveled frames and mitered drawers. No signs whatsoever of paint wear, chipping or warping. The vanity looks as good as new. Not so my kitchen....See MoreHas anyone use Dynasty & Omega 'near custom cabinetry'
Comments (22)We used Omega's Dynasty line for our kitchen and are glad we did. We selected the Bancroft style in Cherry wood with the Mandarin finish. Looks custom without the cost of custom. Our order included features like regular and pot/pan drawers, full extension drawers, soft-close drawers and pull-outs, appliance garages, corner units, cabinet doors for use with glass inserts, dual-bin lower cabinet pullout for recycling and built in lazy susans. Cabinet boxes are solid and finish was excellent. Ultimately, everything came out perfectly and we are very happy with the results. Would definitely recommend this cabinet maker!...See MoreKemper vs. Dynasty (made by Omega) painted white cabinets
Comments (5)We have Dynasty cabinets by Omega, painted white (oyster, with a caramel glaze, very subtle). They are not shaker style, but they are very well made, and we are extremely happy with them. Also, all dealings with the company (through our KD) were smooth and fast, and all of the cabinets were delivered on time and in excellent condition (no returns). They were packed well, and all finishes were perfect. We did add a few trim pieces, in addition to adding a banquette, and all pieces, although ordered later, arrived pretty quickly, and the finishes were consistent with the main cabinet order. We also have an alder island from Dynasty, and it is beautiful. From our experience this past summer, I would recommend Dynasty. I have no experience with Kemper. Good luck to you!...See MoreTeresa Furbee
