Rutt cabinets vs. Dynasty/ Omega vs. Downsview?
Comments (6)mnhockeymom - When you say you ditched them and went custom, I presume you mean with someone local, not national chain or something? I think I recall you live in ... the midwest?? so that probably won't help me. But I have seen and love your kitchen, esp your thick marble which continues to inpsire me. I guess that makes me wonder if I should shop it around to local custom, presumably smaller outfits?? In truth, I have what I think is a workable quote from Dynasty/Omega (some pieces from each line depending on needs - thanks igloo - I am aware of the difference) and they seem to be able to provide what I need (at least at this early stage - granted not everything has been worked out/designed completely) and I'm not sure what it's worth to get pricing from these other lines which I feel confident will be more expensive (perhaps with the exception of Canyon Creek). Just wondering how much better they can be. Not building Trump Tower here, but also want quality that will last and look good. ahhh! Decisions, decisions....See Morecabico or omega dynasty cabinets
Comments (5)I'm searching for a mid priced cabinet line.Thought Diamond was it, but didn't like the depth of base cabinet draws, nor did I like their top corner cabinet options. Looking through these forums I found this thread. Not sure if Dynasty "melamine" is better or worse than a standard interior wood veneer. Kraftmaid has the depth of draw, corner cabinets, door style I like, but has not been spoken of very fondly by some who have had them from Lowe's/Home Depot. Help! What to buy, what to buy. When looking on the Omega site they have this regarding the cabinet construction: Quality Inside Out Dynasty/Omega's solid wood case construction makes your cabinetry ready for a lifetime of use. But you don't have to wait a lifetime to appreciate it. Dynasty/Omega cabinets are delivered square, stable and easy to install because we start with solid, kiln-dried select hardwood frames. Unlike many cabinet manufacturers, we produce every door (even our curved doors) on site allowing us to apply the same rigorous quality standards to the doors as we give to the rest of the product....See MorePls Help Pros & Cons Kemper Echo & Dynasty by Omega &
Comments (1)I sell both, and they're apples and oranges. There's a whole other cabinet line in the middle between the two quality wise. That's Kemper. I usually put a customer in Echo who is looking to downsize the price from Kemper and who isn't married to all ply and soft close. That's the only time that such a downgrade makes sense. Add in the soft close drawers, and it's a decent compromise for a budget project. Most of the doorstyles are partial overlay rather than full overlay though. I can't say enough good things about Dynasty/Omega. They are a quality cabinet from start to finish. And they are reasonable in price given their specs. Even their beaded inset is priced well. They will not be as cheap as an Echo quote. They're worth the $ difference unless your budget can't swing it. Look at Kemper as well. It's in the middle between the two. Great amount of choices available with good specs. Soft close doors and drawers are standard, as they are on Dynasty. No inset though....See MoreKitchen Design - Omega Dynasty Cabinetry
Comments (21)Are you able to post a layout diagram? I'm wondering about aisle clearances, especially with bar stools pulled out from the island, across from the fridge. Do you know what you are storing in the tall shallow bank of cabinets? If not... have you gone through what you need to store and identified where it goes, throughout the kitchen? Have you identified your prep area and clean-up zone? Where are trash pull out(s)? Do you have a recycling center, do you compost, how many people are in the kitchen cooking at once... I suggest more time spent on functionality at this time before finalizing cabinet choices. BTW- I highly recommend 18" deep uppers, they are wonderful for large bowl storage. You have selected wonderful cabinets and I would like to see you get the best kitchen possible:) One more idea - if you stick with the current wall, another idea might be to use lighted glass uppers all the way around. You aren't going to able to access these cabinets easily. Poorly shown here:...See MoreBuehl
