I'd be tempted to try painting the walls man cave first. I think it could look stunning with your cabinets and go a long way toward making your kitchen look sleek. If you have the $$ for it, I'd consider changing out your countertops to something less yellow. If you find a laminate you like in stock at a big box store you can change out the counter yourself for just a couple hundred dollars - and it's easier than painting the cabinets. While you have the countertop off, maybe put up a new backsplash behind the sink - something high contrast with both lights and darks in it. And ... voila! New kitchen!

You know it was my father (a minister - a real one, not the loony falwell/Robertson nut job kind) who once told me, when a family friend had come down with cancer for the fourth time and I asked my father if Mr. So-and-so was going to be okay, "If you're asking me is he going to live, the answer is no. But if you're really asking me if he's going to be okay, the answer is yes." That was when I was in my late teens, so a long time ago, and I've never forgotten it.

I'm copying this over from my reply to your other thread, which I can only find on the new version of the boards, and not the old version (which is what still shows up on my home computer). I am completely baffled by the recent Houzz changes. ________________________ I think your perceptions of the two test colors is being influenced by (1) The gold next to them and (2) Both colors being in view means your eye is picking out the differences between the two. In other words, I think they look more different than they really are, and once the whole room is painted, you wouldn't see "pink" or "green" anymore. If you take the picture and edit out the gold and the other gray (I just held up my hands to the monitor to narrow my field of view), both seem more neutral. I think the one on the right looks a bit better with the stone, but both seem fine, at least base on the pics and my monitor. If you want something more neutral, you could look at SW On the Rocks. I also looked at Turning Point, which is more neutral than Sedate Gray but still pulls a bit green. I'm not sure either will be an improvement on what you have up there, though.

try a very light fresh green...not so much the gray green. do you like color?
