"Fluff" post: what do you keep by your kitchen sink?
Comments (35)I am definitely NOT a minimalist! In anything! A window is over my kitchen sink, there are a couple of folk art paper mache sculptures there, about 7 or 8 inches tall. A hen and rooster ceramic figurine that spent many years on my mother's kitchen window sill, a "Thank you Mom" mug my son gave me a couple of months ago, and some ivy cuttings rooting in a glass jar of water. I can see out, over these things, over the patio and into the back yard. The left portion of the sink has a dish drainer in it, there is one of those drying mats on the left counter, and the coffee pot is on that side, too. The end of the cabinet above the left counter has a wooden "A house is not a home without a dog" plaque my sister made for me many years ago. The right side is where I stack the dirty dishes after a meal. Farther over is a selection of often used various sizes of Ziplock plastic containers. The end of the upper cabinet on that side has a framed needlepoint sign, "Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most." Wa-a-a-a-y too cluttered for most of y'all! I can admire pictures of beautiful uncluttered kitchens (or any room), but I would not be comfortable or happy living in one. Different strokes for different folks, right? Rusty...See MoreFluff post: Where do you keep scissors?
Comments (55)Lots of scissors!! It’s so frustrating when you can’t find any. When my 3 kids were in school they kept borrowing them and not putting them back. I finally made a vow, whenever I couldn’t find my scissors. I’d buy another pair as a spare. I also picked up a few pairs at estate sales. One day as I was moving things out to the garage fir an upcoming yard sale, I took a second look at a large Grumpy mug. It was the perfect size to hold my scissors! It now sits on my desk filled with scissors. My favorites are the 2 I bought at a yard sale from a retired teacher ( heavier with black painted handles). After reading these posts I realize I have others too- 2 kitchen shears, bang trimming scissors, cat nail trimming scissors, various scissors in my sewing box....See MoreFluff post: do you use those Renuzit or Glade air freshener solids?
Comments (59)a whole lot of scented things bother me - physically. my sister uses the plug in scent things. everything she sends to me smells like it. If it's clothes, i have to wash them or hang them outside for several days. even non cloth things smell like it. I can't use (or be around where it is used) Windex or Lysol. I had to walk right back out of Target one day - as I walked in, I passed a check out lane where the clerk was cleaning her counter with Windex. I felt it instantly and left. I use to wear White Diamonds, then one day, I couldn't anymore - or even be around those who do. A girl in the office started using it and we had to ask her not to anymore at work. If caused my throat to close up. As did one of those 'hang in the car' things. I bought one for my car (yrs ago) with a coconut scent (which I like) but when I sat in my car reading the newspaper (outside the laundromat), my throat started closing up - it kept getting worse... and I was about to panic when i saw that thing (new) hanging on the mirror. Being the only thing new to me and my car, I took it off and threw it outside the car and left my car door open. It took a few minutes, but my throat began to release and I was ok. Never again! I buy scent free Kleenex (puffs) and detergent (Arm and Hammer). When i went to the laundromat, I had to use scent free dryer sheets - sometimes they were hard to find in stores around me. I'm very careful with cleaners, lotions, soaps, shampoo etc. In a way, it's a really a sad thing to be afflicted with... in another way, it's really a warning to us... a red flag to pay close attention to....See MoreFluff post: What is your warmest winter coat?
Comments (70)I'm wearing a light almost "spring" jacket that's poly filled. My daughter bought it for me from The Bay years ago. It's one from their official Olympics line. I would love to own a Canada Goose coat, but the price is too much for me to go and get one. Besides, with our crazy weather, it can be -30 in the morning when you would need a Canada Goose coat, but by mid afternoon it can go over 0 and you look ridiculous in such a warm coat....See Moremarilyn_c
