Can't tell the size but how about a three drawer chest or a night stand type chest? May be too low though....so maybe even a taller, narrow chest....or even a pretty book shelf or a glass curio cabinet. All could be put under the beautiful light and then put a low growing viney plant on top.. Or a chair to sit at to put your shoes on or off. You can do lots of things...just try some and see how they work for you. To me the sconce should be the star of your wall.

I would put three narrow tall vases in different sizes under that light. No need to put anything in the vases.

Yes, it would totally make sense to remove the sconce but I’m not ready to give up on it just yet since we just bought it! I didn’t realize it would be problematic since there’s been a sconce there since we moved in, but this shape is not easy to work with. I agree a bell shape would definitely make it easier to put something underneath!

I should have mentioned that we are in the process of painting the yellow interior to gray and white, and are going for a rustic-glam look. This wall will be dark gray. We will eventually change the bannister too.

A Charles Rennie Mackitosh chair would go well with your current sconce, especially if you paint the wall gray and stain the bannister a dark color.

With the new paint scheme, you could do something like this. I’d try to find one with knobs that go with the bling in your sconce. Kind of Hollywood Regency glam. Or since the wall will be a dark grey you could do white. Put one beautiful vase or sculpture you love on top. Keep it simple

I’d look for a side/accent table, something simple for interest rather than looking crammed in ... and with the glam feel you’re wanting. JMO, I wouldn’t put anything square in that spot, there are already a lot of angles. I’d do round or demilune.

Just a few examples (based on the changes you’re planning, but without knowing what the entire room or your other decor looks like).

I like the idea of something with patina, since your sconce is shiny:

Or, a pedestal style piece, with a pretty vase, plant, etc, on it.

I'd use a tall mirror that fills most of the space, with a low upholstered curved stool. Hard to see the light fixture on my phone, but I think it's pretty cool!
