LR help; new home for wall sconces?
Comments (14)Hi all, Thanks for your ideas. Les, we tried the piano turned the other way, but as I remember, the keyboard was in the corner, and I didn't like having to walk around the piano, into the corner, to play it. I never thought about having the keyboard face the wall where the sconce is. Would you still angle it? When you enter the room from the front door, you would then see the back of the piano first. I may have to drag some movers over here to try it, but I will definitely think about it. Of course, then one of the wall sconces would need to find another home. I do need to decide what to put on them; I don't have anything bigger than those jars, as a pair. I was actually thinking maybe they could hold a couple of framed prints. Does anyone have a vision here??? It is interesting how one thing leads to another. As I mentioned in my first post, I've never really known how to work with my piano, decor wisel. I love it and do use i often, , but I've never really had things arranged around it very well. Could be the start of another thread...... Thanks all for your help. I may or may not end up using these, but at least with your help I can settle the issue....See MoreI need help with this two story foyer wall color.....ideas please.
Comments (16)Yes, to your first question. You can see the lower TV room ceiling here and how it opens to the foyer. That walkway measures 47" width ( including future baseboard.) I thought a post against that wall would balance the newel on the other side and allow for a "separation" between spaces? I don't know what the color should do in this area? My husband wants the darker brown for the TV room. Also, our color "cocoa" drives me crazy- it goes pinky (flesh beige) with an east facing window light-(the picture below was taken this morning) and goes blue(brown) and relaxed in the evening with sconce/lamp light. I love the color in the evening. Most mornings, I think I need to repaint! Thanks for your interest....See MoreTwo story vs one story houses, pro and con, please
Comments (35)I am in Texas, rarely heard house has basement, I guess Texas soil can not do basement ? There's a lot of soil variation within Texas. :-) Just in my area alone (Central), there's solid alkaline limestone on one end of the spectrum (underground basements in this case would require blasting, I assume; usually cost prohibitive), and then there's heavy, expansive clay on the other (which exerts a lot of pressure on concrete basements, resulting in higher engineering and building costs). It really is a shame that there aren't affordable ways to build basements here, being in tornado alley and all. :-( Above-ground safe rooms are an option, as are small underground bunker-type structures. To address the original post, I strongly prefer living in single story houses, but I love the aesthetics of two- and three- story houses. For a multiple-story house to truly make me happy and not cause daily frustration, I would need several items that would likely negate the savings over a single story (tiled risers; storage under every stair tread; pulley-system dumbwaiter for transferring large laundry loads between floors; 1st master suite up and 2nd master suite down). It would just be too much. :-/...See MorePlease help with entry way table!!
Comments (3)I don’t know your budget, but here are a few ideas. And if you haven’t already, check out local buy/sell pages, you might see a neat vintage piece. :) With any of these, you could change out the hardware to fun knobs and such. Etsy has a great selection. Love this one, so charming ... thought of it when you posted you like French feminine style (priciest one, though): https://www.houzz.com/products/french-country-console-prvw-vr~47930669 https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/kelly-clarkson-home-adelle-2-drawer-2-door-accent-cabinet-w003400196.html?piid= https://www.potterybarn.com/products/souris-storage-cabinet-mp/?catalogId=84&sku=8733203&cm_ven=FreePLA&cm_cat=Google&cm_pla=Furniture%20%3E%20Storage%20Cabinets https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Coffee-Sofa-End-Tables/2030/subcat.html?featuredproduct=20906151&featuredoption=34693253&kid=9553000357392&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=26709886-000-000&cnc=US https://www.ballarddesigns.com/martin-3-door-console-table/furniture/entry/console-tables/609248?listIndex=2&uniqueId=609248 (Comes in three colors) — https://www.houzz.com/products/safavieh-katie-console-with-2-storage-drawer-prvw-vr~56409915 https://www.houzz.com/products/farmhouse-console-table-carved-legs-with-slatted-shelf-and-center-louvered-door-prvw-vr~155274447 (3 color choices) —...See MoreJilly
