Any alternative to Lazy Susans in a 36in corner base cabinet?
Comments (19)Mom, Yup, growing up with, and always having 'Susans', except the 11 years we lived here with a woefully inadequate kitchen (already I've forgotten what I used to have! :>), I just assumed I'd get two corner susans. Since I've had a few months to use this one while waiting for innards, I realize I actually have more space without the susan. Good for the 'Big' items I have in there now. Think I'll still keep the lazy susan I have in the other corner, though it really doesn't store much, but for small items, more convenient- haven't hit upon the perfect way to store things in there either- but it's a wire one, I might be happier with building super Susans with bigger diameter circles...like I have nothing better to do with my time and money... :>)...See MoreLazy Susan vs. Super Susan??
Comments (25)One thing not mentioned here: The super susan's require you to have one of those annoying, hinged, bifold doors. You get significantly more storage in a super susan but the trade-off is that awkward door. I just had a regular lazy susan installed because the doors are attached directly to the pie cut-out and spin with the unit. Decide what is most important to you, storage or a rotating door. In my case I knew that hinged door would make me psychologically unstable. The pictures from my cabinet company showed the regular lazy susan with the same awkward hinged door as the super susan, but I asked and it turned out that the revolving door was a no-cost option. I know this thread is old, but the door difference wasn't mentioned here and people do look for info in these old threads....See MoreCorner cabinet - trash or super susan
Comments (5)I'm with Holly - that does seem like a lot of trash and recycle. How big is your family? As for your other question - I love my Super Susan. I have mine in a diagonal corner, with a drawer above, so I have less height on the susans themselves. I measured my tallest small appliance, and had the cabinet maker space the shelves accordingly. If they were the same height, my rice cooker wouldn't fit. Mine contains the following: rice cooker, crock pot, mixer, waffle iron, George Foreman grill, colanders. I also have a 9" cabinet next to my sink, used for cookie sheets and cutting boards. I have a little drawer above mine, which isn't much use - I wish I had instead put a shelf inside, for things like long aluminum foil or rolling pins. What do you plan to put in the pull-out?...See Morelazy susan for 36' corner base cabinet
Comments (5)I think it depend on how you plan to use that corner. I couldn,t wait to get my super susan in and now that I have it I don,t use it. I put in a large pantry at the same time and that took away my need for it. For me the space would work better with the double hinged door thats on it know versus the old cabinet door that was on oneside only and made access extemely hard. With the double hinged door I have easy access all the way to the back and it would be a great place to put large seldom used things like my pasta machine and canning stuff. If I wasn,t selling the house I would have already pulled out the super suzan in favor of a open large storage space....See MoreCEFreeman_GW DC/MD Burbs 7b/8a
